Rap producer Demetrius "Shawty Redd" Stewart is reportedly being held on a murder charge after allegedly fatally shooting a man in his home on New Year's Day.

According to updated reports, Redd is accused of shooting a 35 year-old man.

Police have released the name of a man shot and killed Friday morning at the home of a popular music producer. Demetrius Lee Stewart - also known as Shawty Redd - allegedly shot Damon A. Martin, 35, of Detroit, Friday morning after an altercation at Stewart's home in Hampton. Henry County Police responded to an 8 a.m. call Friday morning after someone reported a shooting in the 2000 block of Ballymeade Lane in Hampton. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
He will return to court later this month.

The 28-year-old Stewart is charged with murder and was being held without bond in the Henry County jail Saturday. His first court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 12. Police didn't know whether Stewart has a lawyer. (ABC News)

Henry County Police Captain J. Bolton said Stewart is accused of shooting a man in his Hampton home. Police say they do not know the name of the victim and are checking his fingerprints to obtain an identity. The victim was shot once following an argument that turned physical, according to police. The producer is known for working with a range of big rap stars.

Stewart is credited for much of Young Jeezy's early success with his stellar production on several introductory mixtapes including Can't Ban the Snowman, Tha Streets Iz Watchin and Trap or Die, where he produced such standouts as "Jeezy the Snowman", "Over Here" and "We Luv Ya".
