Obie Trice Tells DX About Significance Of Special Reserve
01.07.10 | by Sudaara White
Obie Trice recently released his first LP Special Reserve since leaving Shady Records. The project is solely produced by DJ Premier associate MoSS and has one feature by Deuce Wonder. The two had started the work in the early '90s and re-visited the work after the label departure. With 11 eleven songs, Trice stated that his most prized track on this project is the raunchy “Jack My Dick.”
Speaking with HipHopDX, Trice stated, “Special Reserve is an album that has music pre-Shady Records. It’s just a Hip Hop album that is based on stuff from back in the day. We improved it a little so it would fit more with today’s vibe. It’s from when MoSS and I were both younger." Tight-lipped about the politics of his former label, the Detroit native continued, "I’m not looking for a certain response. I’m just looking to put out some music.”,
