Game upped the ante by offering out consequences to the losing team.

Aside from sports, Game has also been promoting his upcoming R.E.D. Album.
"I'm trying to get [Interscope co-founder and chairman] Jimmy Iovine to throw me in the studio with Lady Gaga," he explained in an interview. "She's a rebel, and I go against the grain every day, so, if it happens, it'll be monumental for the state of music...Dre and I have always been on the same team, I've just been too wild for him at times. He's older and legendary and he's been through enough drama in his career and doesn't have to jump into my drama. So, I understood that and why he pulled back." (ABC News)

News: G-Unit's Lloyd Banks Allegedly Arrested For Brutal Fight
Saturday, Jan 9, 2010 6:00PM
Written by Cyrus Langhorne
G-Unit's Lloyd Banks has reportedly been arrested for assaulting a hip-hop promoter in Canada, according to reports.
While a confirmation has not yet been offered, a detailed account of the arrest has begun to spread online.
New York rapper and G-Unit honcho Lloyd Banks has been arrested along with four other men in Ontario Canada. Banks, real name Christopher Charles Lloyd, and four others allegedly sequestered road manager and "Canadian booking artist" Chris Hines of Chris Hines/ Ultimate Ent in a hotel near Kitchener (Ontario, Canada) where Banks was scheduled to perform. According to accounts of the alleged incident, they assaulted Hines and left him to be rushed to hospital. Hines suffered a few minor lacerations as well as a bruised eye and a possible head trauma. Details will be posted as they become available. (Def Sounds)
Back in 2005, the "Punch Line King" was busted by police with Young Buck.
Following their Anger Management 3 performance on Monday night at New York's Madison Square Garden, which ended with Young Buck's parting shot "F--- the police!," Buck, Lloyd Banks and their entourage had a run-in with the men in blue that resulted in 13 arrests. According to a spokesperson for the NYPD, Buck, 24, and Banks, 23 (real names David Brown and Christopher Lloyd, respectively), were traveling in a van with 11 other men when their vehicle was pulled over at 41st Street and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan for allegedly running a red light. Upon inspection, two guns were found. (MTV)
Aside from legal issues, Banks recently announced the forthcoming release of his third solo album.
"For y'all that don't know," Banks told a screaming crowd at New York's BB Kings this week, "y'all can expect my next album second quarter of next year. That's June, in here for the summer time. So y'all out there following my mixtape sh*t, for y'all that been following my mixtape sh*t -- my fifth mixtape of the year, V5, will be out [December] 28th. That's five mixtapes, that's really albums. I bust my a** more than the average artist this year. Y'all better take your a** out to the store. " (Real Talk NY)
50 Cent recently talked about the buzz behind Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo.
"Just the presentation. Just the project, to put an album out," 50 said about re-igniting his camp's buzz. "When you say... Really, how do you fall out of the public eye? Because you don't have any material that's being marketed and promoted. See, they didn't lose their base we initially created, G-Unit; when we go touring, you see the three of us consistently. It's just the relaunch, and to reestablish those albums that don't have no holes in them. We have to work on those projects as hard as we work on the 50 Cent project. Well, no [they're not on Interscope]. And it's a blessing that it's not still yet, because the building has changed. Interscope is a system that's in a different space. A lot of companies are in different spaces, they got rid of 60-percent of their staffs. So you don't know exactly what all those things are. But we'll put their projects together and find a way to put them out." (XXL Magazine)
No further details have been announced as of now.

News: Ghostface Killah, Raekwon & Method Man Black Out, "We Need A Group Name!!!!!!"
Saturday, Jan 9, 2010 5:30PM
Written by Cyrus Langhorne
Ghostface Killah has reached out to fans for help in deciding a rap group alias for his upcoming joint album alongside Raekwon and Method Man.
Writing via MySpace, a Ghostdini message reached out to hip-hop heads for their thoughts and suggestions.
"We Need a Group Name!!!!!," the message read last night (January 8). "Help us out! As you know Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Reakwon are teaming up for an album dropping very soon, but Meth, Rae & Ghost need a name 4 the group. Txt MethRaeGhost to 66937 to name the band! If they chose UR name U can be in the liner notes (Ghostface Killah's MySpace)
According to Raekwon, the long-awaited project is almost ready for retail release.
"Everything is a go from what I'm hearing," he said in an interview. "It's a record that's gonna come out on Def Jam so...I really don't have too much knowledge on it. I spoke to [Method Man] and he's telling me by the middle of February the album should be already solidified. So, that's what I'm hoping [is] gonna happen. We'll see what Def Jam [will] do. I'm just coming in as a piece on the board just to really go in and do what I gotta do. But we gon' see how they handle the business with that album...We still got more things that we wanna do. We ain't never wrapped. We gon' definitely make sure that we really give y'all a tight album, and [make sure that] everybody's opinions and criticisms account for this record." (Hip Hop DX)
Raekwon recently confirmed past reports of the project being delayed through 2010.
"We wanted that pushed back, I fought for that because I felt that it wasn't enough time, the chemistry is still boiling," Raekwon explained in an interview. "When you think about us putting something together, it's gotta be stupid so my brothers are respecting my feelings on it, I'm respecting their feelings on it, we all saying the same sh*t so. At the end of the day, when yall get the album, enjoy it and get ready for some other sh*t." (57th Ave)
From Wu-Tang frontman RZA's perspective, the threesome's group album is long overdue.
"I think it's a great idea," RZA said of Raekwon, Ghostface and Method Man teaming up. "I was pushing that idea to them years ago. Back in the day, we was gonna have a branch called 'The Brothers From the Grain' that was kinda those guys right there. I'm gonna see Meth tonight in the studio to see if I could add on something to that project. Add some depth to it. They are three of the most prolific voices in Wu-Tang...We're at a period of life, if anybody from Wu-Tang needs me, I'm there for them. Everybody has grown and matured to where we don't need each other." (MTV)
The new group album is slated to drop Tuesday, February 9th.

News: Suge Knight's Net Income Reportedly $15K A Year
Saturday, Jan 9, 2010 2:00PM
Written by Cyrus Langhorne
Former Death Row Records owner Suge Knight has reportedly had his financial records exposed showing the ex-labelhead to Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg with a net income of just over $1,200 a month.
In light of his financial crunch, Knight is reportedly handling a child support claim.
The mother of Suge Knight's four-and-a-half year-old child is gunning for cash -- but she won't be getting much, and Suge's paltry "presumed income" is to blame.According to papers filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Tammie Renell Hawkins is seeking child support for Taz Maree Knight, who was born in May 2005. Here's the catch: By California law, support is based on the presumed income of the person coughing up the dough -- and according to the docs, Suge's net income is only $1,207 a month! Because of his haul, the most Tammie can request monthly is $302. (TMZ)
Knight's name recently made headlines after being publicly taunted by West Coast rapper Game.
"It's 2010 and I said f*ck Suge!," Game freestyled during a performance. "Because I'm a motherf*cking animal/And they don't know that I'm a cannibal/Emcees I eat 'em, thick b*tches I beat 'em/I fry haters up just 'cause I don't need 'em/Where the f*ck we from, n*gga from Compton/Where the f*ck we from, we from Compton...Weezy, I made that n*gga a Blood, Jim Jones, I made that n*gga a Blood, Gucci [Mane], I made that n*gga a Blood, so when they throw it up, eveybody say what's up...Everybody in this b*tch know what Game 'bout/Suge took the same route...Let's vote, 2010, n*gga f*ck Death Row!" (WSHH)
Knight recently spoke on his views of the rap game.
"I'm gonna be doing some movies, gonna do some music but you know mainly I've been around my environment," he explained in an interview. "You know, going back to the stomping grounds that I never left, enjoying it is basically what I've been doing. You know, you got a lot new artists out there. I mean Lil Wayne, his stuff is always hot. Even Jeezy had a cut I liked this year. There's a lot of artists I feel aren't really out yet, you got Glasses Malone. Glasses is on his way, same thing with Nipsey Hussle. Nipsey's gonna do well, Glasses is gonna do extremely well. Jay Rock is gonna do well. More importantly, these top guns nobody knows about, I got some sh*t where it feels like it's back to the basics kinda how it is when you feel the music, it's not like so commercial." (Hip Hop Stan)
Known for controversy, Suge's "bad guy" image was recently questioned by former Death Row artist Crooked I.
"Suge taught me a lot," Crooked explained in an interview. "He sat me down with Russell Simmons. He sat me down with Lyor Cohen. He sat me down with LA Reid. He sat me down with the bosses who moved this game...All the bosses, they do it the same kinda way, it's just that they was intimidated by the dude...People get intimidated, I don't blame him for that, I blame the person who's intimidated. Why be intimidated? Okay motherf*cker, that's how you wanna come, this is me coming. I don't blame him, it's like, step up motherf*cker...The industry wants me to bad mouth Suge Knight, they want me to. I don't have sh*t to say bad really like that. I made money on Death Row, it launched me to where I'm at, when I walk into the offices at a record company they respect me because they know what I've been through." (Hip Hop Game)

A rep for Monica confirmed that L.A. Child Protective Services placed the baby girl in the custody of her father last week. We're told Monica is handling the situation surprisingly well -- this photo was taken at a Los Angeles courthouse shortly after a hearing regarding the case. (TMZ)
She made headlines last month when it was reported that the actress checked into a psychiatric facility.
Monica Danger from the first season of VH1's "For the Love of Ray J" was in a psychiatric hold earlier this month after an incident that involved her newborn daughter. A rep for the reality TV star had previously confirmed the reports.

Crooked I Speaks on Next Slaughterhouse LP, Tour & More
01.09.10 | by Andres Tardio
After releasing one of the most anticipated albums of last year and dropping a touted debut with Slaughterhouse, fans seemed poised for a second album from the group. Now, they are heading overseas before they unveil their second album to the masses. HipHopDX caught up with Crooked I to speak on the crew's next project and their European tour.
As some may know, the first Slaughterhouse album was completed in a time crunch. The group really turned it around in a short time due to those time constraints. Now, they are poised to take some more time with this next effort, something Crooked feels may help. He also said he'd like more "introspective" cuts on the album, somewhat like "Rain Drops."
"I just think that first Slaughterhouse album, there was a time factor. But, I think we were so happy and revived in our careers that we were like a machine. We went in there knocked joints out. Now, we’ve grown together even closer and we know how we work. I think it’s going to be a step higher, without a doubt."
"I’d like to get some introspective joints, some more personal joints," he said when he was asked what he'd like to hear on it. "My vote would be a couple more of those types of joints. It’s going to be way more addictive than the first one."
Assuring us that his bags were already packed for Europe, Crooked said he's excited about the upcoming tour.
“We got a lot of fans over there who hit us on Twitter, MySpace and things like that. They’ve been asking for Slaughterhouse to go out there. It’s an opportunity to connect with them so I’m ready. I’m ready, man. My bags are already at the door.”
When asked how European audiences differ from US fans, he said folks in the States may just be getting spoiled.
"I think we get a little spoiled over here. I find myself being spoiled, too. Since it started in the states and we watched it go through so many different stages, sometimes we might not have the same excitement that some of the dudes from overseas got. But, overseas, I see a whole lot of excitement. You got dudes that’s still over there hanging upside down on the side of buildings writing graffiti and stuff. You got all these people break dancing. They’re true to it over there. Some of the fans out here can learn from them. [I say] some of the fans because we still have die hard Hip Hop fans out here. Don’t get it twisted. But, it’s refreshing to go out there and see how they’re expressing the culture."
2010 has a lot in store for Crook, with a new album Million Dollar Story coming up and the SH project in store. He's also working with NBM.
“I’m also a part of a company called NBM, Nothing But Music. We’re focusing on putting music in films and in TV. We’re about to have a launch party for that on the 15th of January at Minx in Glendale, California. So, just watch your boy in 2010. I’m trying to grow out here. I’m sticking true to the term hustler.”
Finally, we spoke on the Internet presence he touched on in part one of this interview. He added that the net has been good to him.
"It’s helped me, man. Sometimes it may be a double edged sword. Sometimes, you might get bootlegged but you’re going to have piracy. You’re never going to have to get rid of piracy. The internet is a great tool for me; it has been. I owe a lot to your site, you know what I’m saying? So, I would never complain about the internet. I absolutely love it."

Michael Jackson's Doctor To Be Charged With Manslaughter
01.09.10 | by Krysten Hughes
Nearly seven months after the untimely demise of music icon Michael Jackson, prosecutor's are accusing Dr. Conrad Murray, of involuntary manslaughter. Murray, who was being paid $150,000 a week to be the King of Pop's personal doctor, had been under investigation for giving him the sedative, Propofol, along with Valium, lorazepam and midazolam.
NBC reported that "a law enforcement source told the Associated Press Murray will be prosecuted on a theory of gross negligence. The indictment will be sought as soon as cops in Los Angeles, where Jackson died, make their case to the district attorney." The charges against Murray are for administering lethal doses of Propofol.
Janet Jackson told ABC, "[Dr. Conrad Murray] was the one that was administering [drugs]. I think he is responsible." Murray admitted to authorities that he did give the pop singer Propofol at 10:40 a.m. the morning that he died.

NBA Jam Revival With Rumored Hip Hop Soundtrack
01.09.10 | by Krysten Hughes
Sources recently confirmed to ESPN that EA Sports is bringing back the popular Midway nineties classic NBA Jam video game. EA, who produced the NBA Streets series, will initially be releasing the game as a Nintendo Wii exclusive.
"Four-player action is set to return big-time as sources claim that EA has not only hired [game creator Mark] Turmell to work on upcoming sports games, he's already been brought to EA's Vancouver studio to help consult on the new 'Jam," wrote ESPN's Jon Robinson. He continued, "sources also claim that Turmell isn't the only old-school Jam vet being brought back to the mix, which makes me wonder if EA will also hire the voice of the original game, Tim Kitzrow, to once again unleash phrases like "Boomshackalacka!" and "He's on Fire!"
There is also speculation that the new NBA Jam will buy into EA Trax system, which will produce a Hip Hop soundtrack to accompany the game. The in-game soundtrack would feature up and coming artists as well as mainstream artists. EA Trax system has music participation with labels including Capitol, Atlantic, Interscope, and Island/Def Jam that allow their artist's music to play on EA video games.
There is no word as to when the new game will be relelased.

Suge Knight Sued For Child Support
Saturday, January 09, 2010 3:23 AM
By Roman Wolfe
(AllHipHop News) Former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight is being sued by the mother of his child for support.
Tammy Renell Hawkins filed papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court, seeking child support for their four-year-old, Taz Maree Knight.
According to court documents, the former multimillionaire now earns just $1307 per month.
TMZ.com reports that under California law and based on Knight's income, the woman would receive just $302 per month in child support for Knight’s four-year-old.
At its height, Death Row Records was grossing over $100 million annually, based on albums by rappers like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, The Dogg Pound, Lady of Rage, MC Hammer and others.
Knight filed for bankruptcy in April 2006, after losing a default judgment to Michael and Lydia Harris, who claimed they invested over $1 million in seed money to start the record label.
A new court battle has erupted over the infamous Hip-Hop label Death Row Records, which was once home to rap stars like Tupac, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and others.
Lara Lavi and Wideawake Entertainment bought Death Row Records in bankruptcy court for $18 million dollars.
The new owners, Wideawake-Death Row Ent. are currently battling over Death Row Records with the company that financed the purchase, New Solutions Financial Corp.

News: Drake Won't Stop At Debut LP, "I Have A Special Plan To Keep The Free Flow Of Music Going"
Friday, Jan 8, 2010 5:45PM
Written by Rosario Harper
Young Money's Drake has discussed an aim to keep his rap buzz stirring after the release of his highly anticipated Thank Me Later debut later this year.
The Canadian rapper said he was cooking up a plan for this year.
"In 2010 I'm really hoping I can stay true to this new way of life I've committed myself to," he said in an interview. "I have a special plan to keep the free flow of music going after the album is released. This is definitely a unique path I'm setting out on, and honestly, it's great. I'm honored to be in this position." (Billboard)
He recently made headlines after being named as one of the producers for upcoming an upcoming television series.
Toronto-based the Nightingale Company said Canadian actor and rap artist Aubrey "Drake" Graham ("Degrassi: The Next Generation") is to develop a new comedy series for the indie producer. Mazin Eisadig ("The Line") is set to star in "Us and Them," a sitcom about best buddies -- and polar opposites -- trying to make their way in the entertainment industry. Information on when the show will begin production has not been announced. (The Hollywood Reporter)
The rapper has also hinted at routes outside of rap later down the road.
"I want to drop this album, then another, and then take a break to do film and study culinary arts," he tells Rolling Stone in the magazine's current issue. Once he masters his skill, the aspiring chef plans to put it to good use. "Then I'm gonna open a restaurant in Toronto. Hopefully my name will hold more weight by then." He should have no problem as he has quickly become the most-buzzed-about hip-hop act of the year. (Rap-Up)
For now, Drake plans to head out to Hawaii to begin studio work with Kanye West and No I.D.
"Me and Kanye, when we do come together, it's great," he said in an interview. "We have great chemistry. That definitely won't halt us from giving people what they deserve. In a couple of weeks I'm going to Hawaii so I can work with him and No ID some more...It's not much to say -- we got some great songs. Kanye just brought extra brushes to the painting session. He just brought some more colors so we can complete this masterpiece. I know he's eager to complete his record too, so he's back in that music mode which is great. He was in clothing mode for a second...now I think he's back and ready to make this all happen." (MTV)

News: Buju Banton Pleads Innocence In Drug Conspiracy Case, Refuses Plea Deal
Friday, Jan 8, 2010 5:40PM
Written by Biz Jones
Reggae star Buju Banton has pleaded not guilty to drug charges related to an arrest last month in Florida.
According to reports, Banton is not seeking a plea deal to avoid substantial time behind bars.
Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton has pleaded not guilty to a drug charge in a Florida federal court. Banton was arraigned Thursday (Jan. 7) on a charge of conspiring to buy more than five kilograms of cocaine from an undercover law enforcement officer in Sarasota last month. The 36-year-old singer, born Mark Myrie, did not seek bail. If he bonded out of jail, he would be held by immigration officials. Banton's attorney says his client is innocent and does not plan to seek a deal. Banton will likely miss the Jan. 31 Grammy Awards, where he is nominated for his latest album, "Rasta Got Soul." (Billboard)
He last appeared in court last month when he was transferred from Miami to Tampa.
Wearing a beige jail jumpsuit and shackles, Banton, 36, sat expressionless in the front row of the Miami federal courtroom, his trademark dreadlocks pulled back off his narrow face and rolled into a bundle. Occasionally he looked out into the courtroom where, in the back row, his publicist and two members of the local Jamaican Consulate observed the proceedings. The only time Banton spoke was when he uttered his real name and age, and confirmed to U.S. Magistrate Judge William Turnoff that he was indeed waiving his bail hearing in Miami to be transferred to Tampa. (Miami Herald)
An attorney for Banton shared his comments after the hearing.
"He believes that because the indictment was filed out of Tampa, that's where the case should be defended," Banton's attorney, Herbert E. Walker III, said after the hearing. "He's a very spiritual person. He has a lot of faith in God. He's confident he's going to be exonerated." (Associated Press)
He was taken in by authorities in December.
The four-time Grammy nominee is accused along with two others of allegedly attempting to buy more than five kilograms of cocaine from an undercover law enforcement officer in Sarasota last week. Banton was arrested Thursday at his home in Tamarac. The charges carry a maximum sentence of over 20 years in prison. (Carribean World News)

Written by Cyrus Langhorne
Hit producer Drumma Boy recently reaction to seeing Young Jeezy and Gucci Mane place their past rap beef aside and call a truce.
From Drumma's point of view, their reunion is bigger than rap.
"Man I've been wanting to see all of us just be on one page, all of us reppin' one flag, all of us coming to together and putting all of this money together and locking it tight," he said in an interview. "It's a wrap from that point on. I mean, its always great to see two powerful brothers end some beef and come together to get more money. I mean imagine Jeezy and Gucci coming to your high school. Its all about the kids, its motivation and they are the number one motivators, so that's what it is." (Hip Hop Wired)
Currently incarcerated for a parole violation, Gucci recently spoke on making peace with the "Snowman."
"I learned in the rap game, once you got heat people wanna stand next to you," Gucci revealed in an interview with radio personality Big Boy. "Once I established myself as being a credible artist as someone who could make some money -- then in that time, the people wanna bring something to the table...Before the conversation we had collaborated, we had been talking. And we kinda had a mutual agreement together. Both of us are so big and got so many people that wanna party with us, it's kinda selfish to say we travel around the world -- I knew me personally, I didn't want that on my hands...We already collaborated on two songs, one is already out and one is debuting in a few weeks." ("Big Boy's Neighborhood")
Both Jeezy and Gucci promised to move forward and dead their beef during a phone interview with DJ Drama last December.
"That's what it is homie," Jeezy said to Gucci, accepting the peace calling. "What's understood ain't gotta be said, man. We gonna do this for the city, so you keep your head up. Me and Dram gonna hold it down, bruh and that's what it is. 100. That's what it is homie -- that's what it is man, it's back to business man. Back to the money, back to the music. Back to the streets. We're back for the city man. Believe that. We got more work to do -- by the way, you snuck me with that phone call homie, for real." (Hot 107.9)
Writing via Twitter, Busta Rhymes recently paid homage to both emcees for taking a mature route on moving through their past differences.

News: UPDATE: Keyshia Cole Addresses Engagement & Pregnancy Reports, "My Plate Is Very Full"
Friday, Jan 8, 2010 4:50PM
Written by Rosario Harper
R&B singer Keyshia Cole has released a statement confirming her speculated pregnancy and engagement to NBA basketball player Daniel Gibson.
In the statement, Cole also warns fans of her distance from certain family members.
"To all my friends and fans - It's time that I clear the air," she wrote in a statement. "It's not a secret that I haven't been in contact with my mother Frankie, and my sisters Neffe and Elite and I never wanted to air out our differences to the public. While I won't go into detail here I find it necessary to let you guys know I decided to stop communication with them because I was at a point in my life where I needed serenity and peace to move forward. Please know I love my family very much but it was time to let it go. You guys are a witness to a lot of what was happening from watching on air and online. Now that I am becoming a mom my passion for having a loving and peaceful home for my child is my #1 priority. It's very important to both Daniel and I. My plate is very full; I have a new baby coming, we are planning our wedding and I am working in the studio on a new album that I am close to completing. The stress that my family is giving me with their constant false reports is not healthy and it's not what I need at this time in my life. Please understand that there are only a few people that can officially confirm or deny anything that's happening in my life and that's me, Daniel, and my publicist, Tresa Sanders. And my girl Monica never lies." (Statement)
Reports of her engagement landed online this week.
"Heaven Sent" singer Keyshia Cole was reportedly shocked when longtime boyfriend and pro NBA athlete Daniel Gibson proposed over New Year's. News of Cole's engagement broke Tuesday, January 5, after weeks of rumors surrounding a baby bump and ultimate confirmation that the Grammy nominee was indeed pregnant. (Singersroom)
Additional reports suggested the marriage was a surprise to Cole's camp.
"[The engagement came as] an absolute surprise," a rep said. "When he asked her to marry him, she was flabbergasted. He presented her with the ring and her mouth dropped in amazement. It's too beautiful for words." (E! Online)
The singer will now join a grouping of married R&B singers including Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Christina Millian and Mary J. Blige.

Friday, January 08, 2010 3:22 PM
By: Ismael AbduSalaam
(AllHipHop News) CEOs Carol A. Dorsey (Chopper City Records, Madd Money Entertainment) and Dawn “Lady Dolla” Harrington (Dollas N Sense) have confirmed a joint business venture focusing on artist management and label development projects.
As founder/co-CEO of Chopper City Records with rapper and nephew B.G., Carol Dorsey was instrumental in the New Orleans emcee selling 8 million records to date, and introducing the group Chopper City Boyz.
Dorsey was also an integral part in the early career of R&B breakthrough artist K’Jon, working with the singer until 2007.
Currently, she is working with E-1 Entertainment and Atlantic Records to finalize B.G.’s 11th solo LP Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood.
With labels pulling back resources, Dorsey feels her experience offers the insight needed for artists to secure funding and negotiation leverage.
“Over the years I have developed intuitive insights, creative instincts, business savvy and inimitable showmanship, plus a strong A&R eye sight in rap, Hip-Hop, R&B and pop with a creative view of artist imaging in bringing out the best in each individual artist that I choose to work with,” she explained to AllHipHop.com, “:As a sound business woman, I know good business when I see it, and I’m excited to take my business relationship with Dawn to this new management level. Outside of this new movement, I will continue to run Chopper City Records along with my partner and nephew, B.G.”
Dawn “Lady Dolla” Harrington had her start under Dorsey as an intern with Chopper City Records in 2004, and worked extensively with B.G. and Chopper City Boyz later on as an Executive Assistant.
Through the Lady Dolla moniker, Harrington went on to establish her own Dollas N Sense Entertainment and Booking Agency, along with modeling groups the Chopper City Girls and the Lady Dolla Dolls.
“Since my first venture in this industry I have been determined to expand my reach to other facets of the game, and now with this new exciting partnership with Carol/ Madd Money Entertainment, I truly believe that there is no limit to what we can accomplish,” Harrington told AllHipHop.com. “I would like to thank B.G. and the amazing people at Chopper City Records for their faith in me and teaching me so much, and I look forward to achieving greater success.”
At press time, the companies will retain offices in Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Atlanta.
Their targeted clientele are artists with record deals, those previously signed to deals, and unsigned artists that have Soundscan sales and BDS airplay history.

News: Omillio Sparks Says Beanie Sigel Should Blame Himself For Jay-Z Conflict, "You Brought That On Yourself"
Friday, Jan 8, 2010 3:30PM
Written by Cyrus Langhorne
State Property's Omillion Sparks has spoken up for Jay-Z in light of recent disses made against him by Beanie Sigel.
From Sparks' perspective, Beans could have decided to not re-sign with Jay if there were issues taking place behind closed doors.
"I think it's personal family business," Sparks told DJ Vlad. "Even after all that was said and done, I think [Beans] went to jail, came back and signed a contract again. So if you were already feeling some type of way about what was going on, you should have just been on your joint like 'All right I'm out,' but he came back and re-signed, you brought that on yourself. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me, right? So you come back and something don't go right, now you're mad so I'll just let them feud. It's some personal beef, we'll see the outcome of it later on." (Vlad TV)
State Prop's Freeway also released a song called "Love Is A Battlefield" discussing the conflict.
"I learned when you in t, you should try to get your cake up," Freeway raps. "Half these rap n*ggas girls, without the dresses and the make-up/I was in the hood stressin' with the woes/While my n*gga Beans was doing a year in the wake-up/Everyday I wake up, shootin', robbin'...And I ain't sayin' n*ggas left us in the hood, but we ate our little food, did the dishes, cleaned the plates up/You was eating steak while we was eating Steak Ums/But I never complained, dapped you up and tipped the waiter/Then I, took the Roc, posted up, made a shot/If things ever got hot, worry not, he had the banger on him/Yup, Philly n*ggas live the code...If I can't get the president on the phone, I'm fine, 'cause I got the evidence, the plaques at my home..." ("Love Is a Battlefield")
Sigel recently suggested Hov has plans to link with Nas for an "Empire State of Mind" remix diss record.
"I'm nice at chess too," Sigel told radio personality DJ On & On. "They say he got a record supposed to come out, the remix to the New York sh*t, he's poppin' shots at me, poppin' shots at 50 [Cent] but he pulled Nas on the record hoping that a n*gga will respond to it and come at Nas and Nas is gonna come right back, he ain't gonna hold no punches, he's gonna come right back. He should come right back but look at the moves. I see that. I'm not worried about Nas, I did that already. I did that already. In defense of him I did that already. I was there when dude was in the studio on the couch scratching his head under pressure." (Jump The Turn Style)
Beans is currently prepping the release of a joint album with Free called Roc Boys.
The Roc Boys are back. XXLMag.com has learned that Beanie Sigel and Freeway will be dropping a collaborative street album next month. The disc, titled The Roc Boys, features 13 tracks and will come out on independent label Siccness Records. It features appearances by DMX, Young Chris and the other members of State Property. News: Shawty Lo Talks T.I. & Gucci Mane Jail Time, "He's Ready To Come Back Home"
Friday, Jan 8, 2010 2:15PM
Written by Cyrus Langhorne
Former T.I. rap rival Shawty Lo has spoken on being on good terms with the "King" and touched on his relationship with incarcerated rapper Gucci Mane.
According to Shawty, he and Gucci speak frequently.
"I talk to him on a regular basis," Shawty said in an interview. "We keep him posted [on things going on in the industry]. He probably on the phone right now. I ain't got to give him advice, though. Gucci know what he gotta do -- he's a grown man. You know, he got his head up. He's ready to come back home...His spirits is up, and he get a lot of mail and get a lot of support from the fans in the streets and, you know, he's just waiting to come home to reclaim his career...I wrote a song called, 'Look What You Got' and I'm talking about all the situations. Me and T.I. situation, Gucci and Jeezy situation, and how the beefs end. It's like, let's just move forward and just do it for the fans because there's people that look up to us. And we don't need negativity." (VIBE)
Recently Shawty explained how he squashed the beef with Tip.
"Me and Tip, we talked for about 15 minutes on November 24th [2008]," said Shawty Lo of last year's Dirty Awards altercation. "And we just came to a conclusion [that] it ain't need to go no further. Basically, it's over with. Homie be home next year. Free Tip. [T.I.'s] last show [before beginning his jail sentence] at Club Crucial I came out and showed - What better place to do it [than] on Bankhead, and show in front of our peoples [that the beef was squashed]? I came on stage, the people saluted and they went crazy." (Hip Hop DX)
R&B singer Mario recently shared his insight on Gucci serving time for a parole violation.
"Nah, I didn't speak to him about the situation," Mario told radio personality Jenny Boom Boom. "It's a setback, it's a setback. It's definitely a setback, I mean, he's got a lot of great music out right now. He's been having a great run for himself. I don't care what you got going on, when you gotta sit for a year? It's a setback. I think he's still hungry, you know what I'm saying? He's still got a lot of work to do. Prayers go out to him though." (Jenny Boom Boom TV)
In a prepared statement last November, Gucci said he has continued to remain positive about his situation.
"I have accepted full responsibility for my actions and I am ready to deal with what is in front of me right now," wrote Gucci. "Thankfully, my label is still moving forward with my album release so I will have plenty to look forward to when I get out. I am remaining positive and want my fans to know that I am grateful for their loyalty and continued support. I will get through this." (XXL Mag)

News: Jim Jones Hints At Dipset Reunion, "We Might Have Some Surprises For Y'all"
Friday, Jan 8, 2010 12:00PM
Written by Cyrus Langhorne
Dipset's Jim Jones suggested that he may work with estranged group members Cam'ron and Freekey Zekey during his appearance on "106 & Park" this week.
Jones said fans should expect a surprise in the near future.
"Shout-out to Juelz [Santana], Zeke and Cam," Jones said during the show's broadcast. "Dipset for life. We might have some surprises for y'all but you know I'm gonna keep my mouth shut. [laughs] But we gonna get money. The revolution, I told y'all. I'm here." ("106 & Park")
Zeke recently spoke on accusing Cam'ron of having questionable contracts and Jones stealing funds.
"My whole thing, I think it's some hop squash, I think everybody need to go and slap each other with a leather glove," Freeky said in an interview. "I think we need to sit down and re-do everything all over, because there was a lot of the things that people don't agree that Cam did with [the] shiesty contracts and there's a lot of things that Jim did [with the] robbing [of ] the money. Who hasn't got over on somebody? We all probably got over a dollar or two. Whether it was a female in the hood and she told a dude she was pregnant and he gave her $300 for no reason or a dude tell his man something cost $10 and it really cost $4 and the same situation is happening as far as Dipset is concerned and I think everybody should just chill out, reevaluate what happened in the past and meet at some type of standard. At the end of the day, I feel that when it comes to the Dipset reunion, everybody needs to shut up and get this money. That's how Freekey feels, the president of Diplomat Records." (Hip Hop Wired)
After releasing a diss song going at Zeke over the stealing allegations, Jones said he still maintained love for his Dipset brother.
"Shouts to Zeeky, f*cking punk!," Jones explained in an interview. "He wasn't lying about things like that. I wasn't stealing, though. I don't steal. So he put the track out, put some real life situations out. Some parts of our history and things like that, but I felt I needed to respond. We're having fun, so I felt I needed to respond. With the Diplomats, there was a lot of people involved in it. So that part is more frustrating than anything and sh*t. You start thinking about the money, and become a realist. There's a lot of motherf*ckin' money at stake. I'm just saying, it's hard out here to make a dollar, especially now. So if you got people offering you millions and millions of dollars that could feed other people. Not just about me and you, buddy, there's other people. You claim you love Zeek so much and all that sh*t. If n*ggas are telling me, Zeek can make a mill and some change, what's happening boss?" (Complex)
Juelz also weighed in and said he still repped Dipset in an interview last month.
"The bird is always gonna be in the sky," Santana promised in an interview. "They be flying high all day everyday. Can't nobody stop that no matter how much n*ggas wanna stop that, no matter what nobody say. Each one of us got our own right to say Dipset for whatever reasons because we all put bricks in that building. It's not just a name that's copyrighted, it's something that n*ggas put work in to. Everybody put a lot of work into that building, well at least the four main characters which is me, Jim, Zeke and Cam. Or if they wanna say Cam, Zeke, Jim and me. However you wanna put it." X-Clan Celebrates 20 Year Reunion With New Music and Tour
Friday, January 08, 2010 1:25 PM
By Gentle Jones
(AllHipHop News) This year legendary Hip-Hop group X-Clan celebrates two decades since its inception in 1990.
X-Clan's founding members Jason "Grand Verbalizer Funkin-Lesson Brother J" Hunter and Paradise "The Architect" Gray told AllHipHop.com that they are in the planning stages of a new CD, a book and a tour.
The forthcoming album is something Paradise has looked forward to for some time.
"I haven't made beats for any other group I've worked with since X-Clan," Paradise told AllHipHop.com. "It's sacred."
X-Clan was known for its distinctive brand of revolutionary Hip-Hop. The group released two critically acclaimed albums To the East, Blackwards (1990) and Xodus (1992).
Singles like "Heed the Word of the Brother," "Funkin' Lesson" and "Grand Verbalizer What Time is It?" introduced the world to Brother J and the collective's Pan-Africanism theories, over Hip-Hop tracks.
"We didn't have an MC, we had Brother J the Grand Verbalizer. We didn't have a DJ, we had Suga Shaft the Rhythm Provider. We didn't have a manager, we had Professor X the Overseer. And instead of a producer, we had Paradise the Architect," recounted Paradise. "We created our own vocabulary."
The group was founded during Paradise's stint as manager of the storied "Latin Quarters" Hip-Hop club in Times Square.
At the same time, he was a founding member of the Blackwatch Movement.
"Blackwatch came first," Paradise recalled, referencing his influential street movement which preceded X-Clan. "Blackwatch had marches 50,000 people deep with black boots on, we held Brooklyn Bridge hostage for 5 hours one time."
Paradise took Brother J and Suga Shaft to a studio owned by Ced Gee, of the Ultramagnetic Emcees, who helped them put together the first X-Clan demo in 1990.
After hearing the recording Professor X agreed to join the group. Suga Shaft passed away in 1995 from complications related to AIDS, while Professor X, the son of Sonny Carson, passed away in 2006 from complications related to spiral meningitis.
Paradise currently manages the music career of Jasiri X, who's album American History X was released in December.

Twista Benefits From YouTube Glitch; Planning Reality Show
Friday, January 08, 2010 11:10 AM
By Chris Richburg
(AllHipHop News) An unusual surge in views on YouTube worked to rapper Twista’s gain.
A video featuring the rapper and rhyme collective Do or Die generated close to 80 billion views on the site yesterday according to the statistics.
The four-minute clip for the song “Do You” was posted by YouTube LadyMC311. According to reports, the video’s 79,441,058,538 views were the result of someone hacking into LadyMC311’s YouTube account.
As a result, “Do You” was briefly YouTube’s most viewed video of all time, eclipsing “Charlie Bit My Finger,” (147,246,806 views) and a performance from Britain’s Got Talent alum Susan Boyle’s (84,765,146 views).
Although questions have been raised regarding the validity of the “Do You” views, Twista sees the situation as a testament to the power of his fans.
“Yea I know it's wrong, and don’t have any idea who that could of been that did the hack,” the rapper told AllHipHop.com, adding that he has never heard of LadyMC311. “I don’t have any idea why they picked my video, but that definitely goes to show you that Twista got those true fans, and I definitely wanna say thanks to the No. 1 blessing.”
The YouTube hacking comes as Twista pursues a pair of non-music related ventures that will broaden his presence among the public as well as utilize his fame towards worthwhile causes.
“Right now I am producing my first reality show deal,” said the rapper, who couldn’t reveal specifics on the deal because “it's under wraps.”
“I just started my own non for profit company helping homeless kids get off the streets and help kids with autism get financial assistance,” the Chicago native stated.
The YouTube hack may be a good thing for Twista, but the talk surrounding the number of views being inflated for "Do You" is valid, as the numbers were false.
Upon checking this morning (January 8), the “Do You” video had 73,317 views since the clip was first posted on YouTube on September 6, 2006.
Despite the rumors, Twista has taken everything in stride as he jokingly put in a personal request to the person responsible for the “Do You” views.
“If you happen to do it again,” the rapper said, “make sure you hook me up a million members on twista.com or my Twitter page.”

News: Dame Dash Reveals Truth Behind Jay-Z Collapse, "He Stopped Listening To Me"
Friday, Jan 8, 2010 9:01AM
Written by Cyrus Langhorne
Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon "Dame" Dash recently discussed his falling out with Jay-Z and explained why rap marketing pioneer Steve Stoute played a role in their estranged relationship.
According to Dash, tensions began to rise with Jay during their run with Rocawear Clothing.
"It was me and Jay and the two Russians voting on every decision, and I controlled the vote, because I always had Jay's vote." The two Russians were Alex Bize and Norton Cher, old-school clothing slingers from Manhattan's garment district who ran the day-to-day operations. "But one day," Dash says, "they brought me to a hotel." He takes his time with the story, replays it daintily. It's clear that reliving the scene is as painful as it is ebulliently cathartic. "I said, 'Why are we meeting at a hotel?' and it was because they didn't want anyone to hear me yelling. That was the day they told me they didn't want [celebrity photographer] Mario Testino to shoot the ads." Instead, they were going with someone cheaper, and they were going in a different direction altogether. "Here the Russians were telling me how to cater to my people! I wanted [Rocawear] to be sold at Bergdorf Goodman's, not Dr. Jay's!" says Dash. "In the end, Steve Stoute was making money off them. Jay stopped listening to me and started listening to him." Shortly thereafter, Jay-Z made their separation formal when he bought out Dash's stake in Rocawear for $30 million. (Esquire)
Former Roc-A-Fella artist Beanie Sigel recently accused Dash and Jay of shady business practices with Rocawear and his own clothing line, State Property.
"The clothing line that I had, I had 20 percent of State Property clothing, it's me, Jay, Dame [Dash] and the two other Russians that had the Rocawear owned State Property because I gave them an idea, pitched it to Dame at the time -- [Dame] was taking all the money from Rocawear and putting it into all his little companies, he did the same thing to State Property." (Power 99 FM)
While Dame initially laid the groundwork in 1999, Hov recently said he has taken the brand to new heights.
"Dame did a great job when he was here," Hov said in an interview. "I just feel that I have a different way of running things, which I think is working out well. I let people make mistakes, and push them to be creative. I let a design team design. When they feel good about something they have created, it makes them want to do more. It makes them want to do their best. People are happy here. I'm not a controlling manager and I have a great team that makes me confident that things can run well when I'm on the road, and I'm proud of that...Our goal is to make Rocawear a $1 billion company," he said. "It may take us more time than we would like since the economy is in the shape that it's in, but I'm confident that we will get there." (Women's Wear Daily)
Last year, Dash said former Def Jam president Lyor Cohen influenced their break-up.
"I'm very disappointed where Roc-A-Fella went," Dame explained in an interview. "I'm very disappointed, it's like the brand is compromised. I never thought that could ever happen where Roc-A-Fella is just not relevant. Lyor is a funny dude, he's a mastermind. He's not scared, I think his influences are what broke up Roc-A-Fella. It's just all business man and even though I'm not running it no more, you still don't wanna see something go down. It feels good but it feels bad, it's bittersweet. It's hard. I got love for everybody, really. But sometimes people do things that are uncharacteristic of what I thought they were." (Mixtape Monster)

News: UPDATE: Lil Wayne's "Rebirth" Summer Release Date Disputed
Thursday, Jan 7, 2010 6:03PM
Written by Rosario Harper
After initial reports of Lil Wayne's Rebirth being pushed to summer 2010, the rapper's record company has said the rock project will be released as scheduled.
According to Universal Motown, Rebirth will be released next month.
Lil Wayne's Rebirth has seen constant delays over the past year, but for once, the album is not being pushed back. Contrary to reports that it had been moved to June, the rapper's oft-delayed foray into rock is still scheduled for release on February 2, Universal Motown confirms to Rap-Up.com. Exactly one week later on February 9, Wayne is likely to be sentenced and report to prison for almost a year on gun charges. (Rap-Up)
Reports earlier this week showed the album coming out in June.
Amazon accidentally shipped a small number of Lil Wayne pre-orders, and now, the Rebirth album is nowhere to be found on the site. The pre-order is also unavailable on the iTunes Store, though the first-run version is totally available through unauthorized online channels. Meanwhile, Walmart is listing the release date as June 22nd. The earlier consensus was that Rebirth would finally emerge during the first quarter. (Digital Music News)
The album was also believed to be coming out sometime in the first quarter of 2010.
Neither the crew album nor the experimental passion project has a proud commercial legacy in hip-hop. But for Rebirth, at least, Lil Wayne's label had sizable expectations. According to Billboard, around one million copies were printed, one-third of which were distributed to retailers. (Lil Wayne's last album, Tha Carter III, has been certified triple platinum, meaning three million copies were shipped.) For 500 or so fans, the physical CD of the original Rebirth is a collectible. For the untold thousands who downloaded the album's songs free, they're just grist for the mill, placeholders until something else comes along, preferably better. According to a representative for Universal Motown Records, a new version of Rebirth is now slated to be released in the first quarter of 2010. (New York Times)
Despite the project initially being pushed to February, early copies were released late last year.
About 500 Amazon customers who pre-ordered the album are enjoying the record already, thanks to a shipping mishap. According to sources and an e-mail to Billboard from an Amazon customer, the online merchant sent copies of the album to some customers who pre-ordered "Rebirth." The album began arriving in mailboxes on Monday, Dec. 14, despite a change in the street date from Dec. 21 to February 1. Although Amazon received the word to return the Lil Wayne album, supposedly about 500 copies were sent to customers. An Amazon spokesman didn't respond to an e-mail request for a comment. (Billboard)

R&B singer Keyshia Cole has been confirmed to be getting married to Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player Daniel Gibson.
According to reports, Gibson asked for the star's hand in marriage earlier this month.
Additional reports suggest the marriage was a surprise to Cole's camp.
"[The engagement came as] an absolute surprise," a rep said. "When he asked her to marry him, she was flabbergasted. He presented her with the ring and her mouth dropped in amazement. It's too beautiful for words." (E! Online)
She is also reportedly working on a new album.
NBA star Daniel "Boobie" Gibson's off the court courtship of platinum-selling recording artist Keyshia Cole has led to a diamond engagement ring, US magazine reports. The "You Complete Me" singer, who will welcome the arrival of the couple's first child and celebrate the launch of her fourth LP in 2010, said "Yes" to the prospect of a new life as the wife of the Cleveland Cavalier team member on New Year's Eve, US magazine reports. Last October, Joe revealed his intent to continue rapping into his 40's.
"My job is to make a record that is gonna stop the world from spinning," Crack revealed in an interview. "If you really wanna know what Fat Joe is after, Fat Joe is trying to make the ultimate best record in hip-hop history that will stop Earth from rotating. I wanna make something that's gonna make the biggest nonbeliever on the planet Earth say, 'Oh, my God. What's up with this dude?' I'm after the undeniable...You gotta understand, I do this from the heart. With me, it's all about making great music. Just to know my fans, who have been my fans forever, get to hear the new Fat Joe for me, it gets me real excited...I wanna make the people think, 'This music is crazy. This album is crazy.' I'm just like a little kid, like I just started." (MTV)
Fat Joe collaborator Rico Love recently spoke with SOHH about the rap veteran's dominance in music.
"It was an amazing experience working with Joe on the 'Aloha' record, as well as being involved creatively on the entire album," he explained. "Fat Joe is hip-hop royalty and he withstood the test of time. Seems like just yesterday I was watching his videos on television and now I'm in a video with him. That's a great feeling. I'm honored." News: Young Money's Jae Millz On Lil Wayne's Jail Time, "You Gonna Hear So Much 'Free Lil Wayne'"
Thursday, Jan 7, 2010 5:00PM
Written by Biz Jones
Young Money's Jae Millz has spoken on what he plans to do after his label boss, Lil Wayne, reports to jail for an eight month sentence next month.
According to the New York-based emcee, he is going to begin a 'Free Lil Wayne' campaign.
"What the f*ck you think I'm gonna do for eight months," Milz asked in an interview. "You gonna here so much free tunes, 'Free Lil Wayne,' I'm gonna make y'all n*ggas hate hearing that sh*t. I'm gonna make y'all n*ggas be like, 'They need to let that n*gga Wayne out. We tired of hearing this n*gga Millz say 'Free Lil Wayne, he only got eight months, I know n*ggas that got f*cking 20 years, what's eight months?' It ain't nothing to a n*gga who used to making money." (This Is 50)
Nicki Minaj recently shared her reaction to Wayne doing a jail bid.
"He is going to be up there in February. I'll [visit him] as often as I can. I mean, he's gonna be in New York and I'm from New York, so, I would love to just come up there as often as I can. But he's gonna be, there's gonna be so many people there so you know, I'm sure it'll go by in like, days, to him. It'll probably be a very weird experience but I think at the end he'll come out stronger, like, he always does. Nothing ever fazes him really." (Jenny Boom Boom TV)
Cash Money's Jay Sean also said Wayne has seen the ups and downs of stardom.
When asked if Wayne seemed blase about serving his upcoming prison term for gun charges, Sean says that Wayne is blase about a lot of things: "He's just seen it all and done it all. He's seen so much in his life. He's got all the money, he's had all the girls. I think all that drives him is to stay on top. So he's looking at this like, 'Oh OK, let's get this out of the way and get back to work.'" (CNN International)
Young Money's singer/rapper Drake also discussed his reaction to Wayne's time last October.
"He's dealing with it well," Drizzy revealed in an interview. "Wayne's not usually gonna open up emotionally and tell you how he's really feeling about anything. He's kinda more concerned about getting as much music as he possibly can, so that when he's in there, people are still satisfied musically with Lil Wayne product, and that's just the mind of a true businessman. I'll just do what I can to keep the whole Young Money/Cash Money team going, and I just want to play my part as a team member and keep the brand strong until the boss gets home...He's like superhuman. I don't think anything could really break his concentration or his zone when he's in there. I definitely didn't think this would be the outcome of it, but I hope it will add to him selling a million records again. It's an unfortunate situation and I hope that he'll be able to position it where his release is a day where everyone's excited and they're just excited about his new album. I hope he manages to market it the right way." (Rap-Up)
