Supporting Cast of "The Chronic" Reunites For DPG's "100 Wayz"
June 05, 2010 10:25:00 AM CDT
by Allen Jacobs
Veteran west coast Rap group Tha Dogg Pound a/k/a D.P.G. is planning to release their seventh studio album this year, 100 Wayz. The work has been discussed since early 2008, and was reportedly initially intended for Koch Records release.
Although an exact date has yet to be confirmed, the tracklisting for Daz & Kurupt's latest has released, and finds the Long Beach duo working with some of the acts with whom they are most associated.
While Dr. Dre is not yet involved in the project, 100 Wayz does link D.P.G. with The Chronic alumni such as Snoop Dogg, Lady of Rage, Nate Dogg and RBX. Fellow former Death Row Records "inmate" Soopafly will also appear, as well as '90s west coast stars Dru Down and Butch Cassidy.
Once known for producing artists ranging from 2Pac to MC Eiht to Rick Ross, Daz told DX in March of 2008 that 100 Wayz will serve as a renaissance for his music-making abilities. "I got a new and improved sound,” he revealed. “[I’m] just taking it back to the [essence] of Hip Hop – breakbeats, all kinds of shit. That hard bangin’ shit.” Over two years ago, Daz did say that Swizz Beatz and Hi-Tek were also contributing music. That is unknown at this time.
1. D.P.G. 2010 (feat. RBX)
2. All You
3. Dogg Pound Gangstaz
4. Another Clip (feat. Soopafly & RBX)
5. Sky's Tha Limit
6. Gotta Let You Know (feat. Nicole Wray & A-Dubb)
7. Good Pu$$y
8. Cheat'n Ass Lover (feat. Nate Dogg & Dru Down)
9. I Fear's No One
10. I Don't Care (feat. The Lady Of Rage)

Rick Ross Goes All-Black Everything On "Teflon Don" Artwork
News: Rick Ross Goes All-Black Everything On "Teflon Don" Artwork
Friday, Jun 4, 2010 10:00AM
Written by Cyrus Langhorne
Southern rapper Rick Ross has decided to go with an all-black everything feel for his new Teflon Don album cover art which features him with his signature sunglasses.
The artwork landed on the Internet Friday (June 4) morning.
Rick Ross is once again back for his fourth solo album which features him all alone with a boss-like presence in an all-black background. Featured in the past with a suit like off of Deeper Than Rap or decked out with jewelry like his Port of Miami and Trilla albums, Ross' Teflon Don shows signs of a more serious rapper with gold-framed glasses peering out into a night setting. (Hip Hop N More)
Ross recently talked about pushing back his album's release date from June to July.
"It was a real good move," Ross said about the delay. "I felt like the June 29th was a little too premature, that was the date my homie Diddy was coming out on anyway. And you know that's the homie, so I felt like coming in the early July, middle July was best for me from day one. But it's always good anyway man as long as you're setting up all your pieces up in the right place. You're setting your radio up, you're setting your marketing up, the rest of that sh*t come in place when you got hits." (Rap Radar)
Earlier this year, Ross said fans could expect a lot of surprises on the new album.
"We got a real nice line-up," Ross told DJ Envy in an interview. "I haven't actually picked all the records that's actually gonna make the album but for sure, my man Jay-Z is on the album. And we got some more surprises so you just gotta keep your ear to the streets...We got a lot of surprises man. We got a lot of big records on this project and you know, we're just keeping it intimate so we can surprise the fans and give them what they really want." ("Sucker Free Sundays")
According to reports, ex-convict Freeway Ricky Ross will attempt to block its release if Ross does not change his rap alias.
"If William Roberts attempts to use the 'Rick Ross' name that he spent years earning and spending time in prison to uphold, he will be met with an injunction," a representative for Freeway Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com. "Simple as that. This is not a publicity stunt, a game or a hoax, to sell some Rick Ross albums, as some have suggested. In fact, [Freeway] Rick Ross intends to halt the release of any Summer 2010 'Rick Ross' album." (All Hip Hop)

Juvenile's "Beast Mode" Cover Bites Drake's "Thank Me Later" Artwork
News: Juvenile's "Beast Mode" Cover Bites Drake's "Thank Me Later" Artwork
Thursday, Jun 3, 2010 10:45AM
Written by Rosario Harper
The cover for Juvenile's upcoming Beast Mode album which closely resembles Drake's Thank Me Later has landed online.
< The album cover which features Juvenile's face with a white background is already drawing comparisons to Drake's debut.
Got d*mn, Juvenile just completely bit off of Drake's "Thank Me Later" cover with no shame. D*mn at least give Drake's album a chance to come out first before the swagger jackin' begins... (Crown The South)
Juvie's new album will be released nationwide next month.
After last year's Cocky and Confident Atlantic Records release that was completely distributed by E1 Entertainment, veteran New Orleans rapper Juvenile is fully independent. E1 will solely handle Juvy's second release in less than a year, July 6's Beast Mode. Although details are still emerging, Juvenile will also use this opportunity to launch his UTP Records, who joins E1 in releasing the ninth official album from the platinum '90s and '00s emcee. (Hip Hop DX)
Juvenile has also explained why the project is coming out this summer.
"The main reason for putting out this record in the summer is that it's a summer album. I made this album for my fans, especially for my female fans out there." (Press Release)
His last album, Cocky & Confident, debuted on the charts last year.
Hot Boys' Juvenile made his return to the charts this week as Cocky & Confident debuted at No. 43. Headed into his second week, Juvie the Great's latest effort has sold 23,100 records. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
Beast Mode is scheduled to hit stores Tuesday, July 6th.

Chamillionaire's Mansion Foreclosed
Chamillionaire's Mansion Foreclosed
June 03, 2010 06:11:00 PM CDT
by Sean RyonShare
Houston rapper Chamillionaire allowed his $2 million mansion to go into foreclosure. According to the hit-maker behind songs like "Ridin' Dirty" and "Hip-Hop Police," his extensive touring schedule kept him on the road for so long that owning a 7,583 sq. foot mansion became more of a hassle than a luxury.
"I chose to be foreclosed on…I was always on the road touring," he said. “I just didn’t feel like it was a good business investment to pay that much mortgage for a house I was never at."
Although he admits he did stop making payments on the house as the housing market began to decline, he told TMZ that he is not broke. He still owns all of his other houses and cars, and in a recent Twitter post, even purchased another mansion this one's place.

Nas Covers Up Kelis Tattoo, Confirms Marriage Is Over
Nas Covers Up Kelis Tattoo, Confirms Marriage Is Over
June 03, 2010 12:02:00 AM CDT
| by Slava Kuperstein
In his first step towards moving on from ex-wife Kelis, Nas has begun to cover up his tattoo of the R&B singer.
"I was going through it," said Nas at the end of his interview with radio host Bootleg Kev. The tattoo, which originally had a topless Kelis in jeans now has a lion's head on top of her body.
The tattoo in question was a topic of scorn from rapper 50 Cent, who famously called Nas (among other rappers) out in his 2005 diss track, "Piggy Bank": "Kelis said her milkshake bring all the boys to the yard/Then Nas went and tattooed the bitch on his arm."
It's unclear whether Nas plans to continue the tattoo's alteration, though he has confirmed the end of the marriage, saying "Oh my God, I'm single."

After last week's surprising debuts for two of Rap's most anticipated collaborative projects, the dust settled a bit. Usher's Raymond v. Raymond advanced to #5 from a #7 position last week. The veteran Pop entertainer's "divorce album" is marching its way to a platinum plaque for Mr. Raymond and his longtime backer, LaFace Records.
Damian Marley & Nas' Distant Relatives maintained a Top 10 spot, but fell five spots to #9. The Universal Republic/Def Jam Records collaborative release has garnered huge critical acclaim in the Rap community for its rich commentary on the parallel relationship between Hip Hop and Reggae. Lil Wayne, K'Naan, Dennis Brown and Joss Stone appear on the work produced by Damian and brother Stephen.
B.o.B. Presents The Adventures of Bobby Ray fell just two notches to #15. The Rebel Rock sensation has the strongest commercial debut in Rap thus far in 2010, and will likely clear 200,000 units next week, as last year's Kid Cudi and Drake sit in the 300,000 and 400,000 units sold categories at present.
Will all the downward movement, The Black Eyed Peas and their nearly year-old E.N.D. release cleared the 2.5 million mark. The Interscope Records release remains a benchmark for its digital sales, and the label's success in this economic climate. Another 2009 release, Alicia Keys' Element of Freedom was included with the top five Rap/R&B sellers at #29. It was announced last week that the songstress and Swizz Beatz will be having their first child.

Tracklisting For Eminem's "Recovery" Revealed
Tracklisting For Eminem's "Recovery" Revealed
May 28, 2010 11:05:00 PM CDT
by Slava Kuperstein
Eminem fans will be surprised when they look at the tracklist for the Detroit lyricists latest album, as they won't be seeing usual suspects 50 Cent and Dr. Dre (the latter of which has appeared on every single major label Eminem solo release).
In fact, only one rapper made the cut: Lil Wayne. Joining Em for the track "No Love," the Young Money head honcho repays the favor for the duo's previous track together, "Drop the World."
The rest of the features consist solely of singers, as Kobe, Pink and Rihanna, the last of whom maybe be a surprise to fans of Relapse, as Eminem rapped, "I'll be on Rihanna/ See man I do what I wanna."
Also notably absent from the guest list is D12, who have not appeared on an Eminem release since 2004's Encore.
Below is the tracklist from Recovery, courtesy of Eminem.com:
1. COLD WIND BLOWS
2. TALKIN’ 2 MYSELF FEAT. KOBE
3. ON FIRE
4. WON’T BACK DOWN FEAT. P!NK
5. W.T.P.
6. GOING THROUGH CHANGES
7. NOT AFRAID
8. SEDUCTION
9. NO LOVE FEAT. LIL WAYNE
10. SPACE BOUND
11. CINDERELLA MAN
12. 25 TO LIFE
13. SO BAD
14. ALMOST FAMOUS
15. LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE FEAT. RIHANNA
