Benzino Fires Back At Crooked I, "Suge Knight Left You Butt A** Naked"

News: Benzino Fires Back At Crooked I, "Suge Knight Left You Butt A** Naked"

Rap veteran Benzino has fired shots back at Slaughterhouse's Crooked I and warned the rapper of trying to silence his recent actions against the hip-hop group.

Speaking through a self-made video, Zino also mocked Crooked's past relationship with former record label owner Suge Knight.

"Okay, first of all, we gonna talk about what that was about, that was about trying to give you f*cking weirdos some f*cking pub in the number one urban selling [magazine]," Zino said in the video. "[Your] cigar isn't even lit, you got this big stupid a** hoody trying to talk like you reading from a script, you're p*ssy Crooked, and you're named after a malt beverage. I know Suge [Knight] done left your a** butt a** naked out there a long time ago. You need to go handle that. Because you don't want none of me. And you talking about guns and stuff, silencers on guns, since we on a gun subject, let me show you this right here...Guns is a part of life, y'all n*ggas pop sh*t -- and then when it comes down to some real sh*t, some real n*gga sh*t, then it's a bunch of 'Oh, I'm not, I'm not.' You dry snitching, there's only one thing worse than a sntich and that's a dry snitch." (Halitosis 2K)
Previously, Crooked asked why Zino was trying to involve guns in their dispute.

"Benzino, yo, real talk, why?," he asked. "You talking too much homie, you doing too much. It's only a couple ways to get out of a beef, man, and you might as well squash this sh*t. I know you was mad because [we] didn't do the motherf*cking interview with your magazine, but that was some other sh*t. You knew what that was about. You shouldn't have even spoke on it or caught feelings. If you a real gangsta, you don't catch feelings over that sh*t. You thinking with your emotions right now. Showing guns on the Internet? N*gga, you on the hip-hop cops radar right now, that's what you just did. Calm down homie, it's not about all that bullsh*t...I got love for Boston, don't even go there. Do not go there, you went too far showing motherf*cking pistols..." (YouTube)
Prior to that, Zino said problems erupted over a situation with Royce Da 5'9's manager.

"I just wanna clarify a few things, you know what I'm saying about this whole Royce Da 5'9 situation and the 'Break To Build' song with Raekwon," Zino says in a video recording. "I had a verse on the song, it's produced by myself -- I had a verse on the song, Rae said he liked the joint and did the second verse and the third verse I held over and he had nothing to do with it. It wasn't really a diss song in the first place because all I did was say a couple of things about Royce in the third verse, in the last two bars or so. But Rae ain't have nothing to do with it, I just wanted to clarify that. Shout-out to everybody over there at IceWater. And also, the whole thing with Slaughterhouse, I felt like the whole thing with Royce's manager, they didn't want to give [my publication] Hip Hop Weekly, the number one urban hip-hop magazine out there, [an interview] but it really wasn't no beef. He said a few things, I said a response. If it was beef now, you know how we doing it." (57th Ave)
Crooked I previously spoke on why he ignored Zino's past taunts.

"Some dudes I have respect for and some dudes I don't," he explained in an interview about rap beefs. "It's like me sitting back and watching Benzino say, 'I respect Crooked but Slaughterhouse is over-rated.' I'm Slaughterhouse. If you disrespect Slaughterhouse then you are disrespecting me. But what am I going to do? I am not going to waste my breath rapping a million bars about somebody. If I did that, I would put it on an album and get paid. I'm not going to air anybody out for free. All of these little beefs pop up and to me they are just silly. To me it's like, you do something to me when I'm on your Coast and I'll do something to you when you're on mine." (All Hip Hop)

Diddy Is Still A Bachelor, "When I Said 'Just Married' I Was Being Sarcastic"

News: Diddy Is Still A Bachelor, "When I Said 'Just Married' I Was Being Sarcastic"
Saturday, Jan 2, 2010 3:14PM

Written by Rosario Harper

Rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has denied reports suggesting that he has officially tied the knot in marriage with a mystery woman.

Despite saying "Just Married" on a Twitter posting this week, Diddy said he was merely being sarcastic.

"Let's go people!!!! 2010!!!! Our year!!! I love yall!!!," he wrote on New Year's Eve. "Juat married! ... No I didn't get married !!!!! Pls stop asking!!! ... Not $arried. Don't know how this started. I'm not even engaged. 1 day. But not now .. I'm not married people. And las night when I said just married I was being sarcastic. But some people wanna believe anything. But I'm not!!" (Diddy's Twitter)
Last month, reports suggested the rap mogul was ready to settle down.

In 2010 it looks like some of us are really trying to grow up and leave certain habits behind. And Sean Puff Combs isn't an exception. The world renowned playboy is said to be cleaning house in a big way! Apparently after three kids, numerous child support issues and a child spawned from outside their union, Diddy is ready to propose to Kim Porter. From what I hear Diddy has purchased a 12 carat diamond engagement ring and has already handed Cassie her walking papers...And I hear there's in even bigger bombshell developing as Puff has [or is} filing for joint custody of his current illegitimate child with Sarah Chapman. My source promises me this information is air tight and won't be denied by the Puffster should be questioned with it. (Gyant Unplugged)
However, he also denied these claims shortly afterward.

"About to go to the unveiling of my wax figure at Madame Tussaud's on W 42nd street in NYC! Let's Go!!!," he wrote Tuesday (December 15) evening. "Attention all blogs. Not getting married. Not engaged. Sorry. Where do yall get this stuff from. Have a blessed night...RT @ralphmarston: Success is achieved not at random.Success happens when there is a decision & an effort & a commitment 2 make it happen." (Diddy's Twitter)
Diddy recently said he would touch on the subjects of love and emotion for his new album, The Last Train To Paris.

"One of the things we're trying to represent is emotion," Diddy said of the upcoming album. "Not being afraid to show emotion on record. A lot of records out right now -- no disrespect to them, but they're all surface. It's about what people have or a dance. All our records are gonna be about love, feelings and emotion. Last Train to Paris is a love story and the most vulnerable album I've ever been involved in. It's raw emotion -- you get a feeling, a vibe." (MTV)

Eminem Calls On Elton John To Fight Drug Addiction

News: Eminem Calls On Elton John To Fight Drug Addiction
Saturday, Jan 2, 2010 12:00PM

Written by Rosario Harper

Music veteran Elton John has revealed that he has been helping Eminem fight the urge to use drugs for nearly two years.

According to Elton, Em's progress has continued to get better.

"I've been helping Eminem over the last 18 months and he's doing brilliantly," John says, reports the British Press Association. Speaking to BBC Radio 5 in the U.K. on Saturday, Sir Elton, 62, who has freely spoken about his own past issues with substance abuse, said: "I'm there if people want my help. If people ask for help you tell them where to go but there's no point advising people if they don't want to do it." (People)
In a June 2009 VIBE Magazine interview, Em broke down his slow recovery and recent return to the spotlight.

"I wanted to make an overall statement--I'm back," Em said. "It was a slow process. You gotta remember I hadn't recorded a song sober in seven years. So it took me awhile to even feel like I could record a song sober...I don't know the last time I shot a video sober, without drinking or taking anything. It's been years...I almost feel like a little kid again with rap. I wanna play around with different flows. If I don't feel like it's what I'm fully capable of, if there's one weak line, I wanna change it. Rap was my drug. It used to get me high and then it stopped getting me high. Then I had to resort to other things to make me feel that...now rap's getting me high again." (Rap Radar)
In a past interview, the rapper said drugs forced his transition into producing.

"I wasn't ready to give up drugs," Em explained. "I didn't really think I had a problem...I felt like I wanted to pull back, because my drug problem had got so bad. I felt like, maybe if I take a break, maybe this will help. I started to get into the producer role more." (XXL Magazine)
He also launched a website using rehab concepts to help promote his Relapse album.

Boasting the slogan "We Remade You" -- a riff on Relapse's first single "We Made You" -- Popsomp Hills is advertised as a real Bloomfield Hills, Michigan rehab center with a Swiss founder named "Dr. Balzac" in charge. There's much more weird stuff on the Popsomp Website: By clicking "Learn More," you're redirected to the Wikipedia page for "Hell," the "Terms & Conditions" seem to be enablers ("Life is too short, party harder than ever. We can help") and links to a multitude of actual rehab options. (Rolling Stone)

Bow Wow Tweets While Driving Drunk
01.02.10 | by Andres Tardio

As the festivities of the new year ensued, Bow Wow found time to Tweet. While that may not have made the news, the content of his Tweets became more controversial. During his posts, presumably made while driving, he admitted to driving under the influence, adding that his face was numb and that he shouldn't have been driving.

"Face numb," he posted. "im whippin the lambo. Tispy as fuck. Just left @livmiami."

Moments later, he continued his posting, naming Chris Brown, who may have been with him at the time.

"Im fucked up!!! Ohhhh damn. Y i drive the lambo. Chris [Brown] might have to drive after next spot."

However, since then, the post has been taken off of Bow Wow's Twitter page. He has also added an apology.

"Apologize for that tweet. it was stupid and immature. not a way i want to kick my #2010 year off. i got too much good stuff lined up. my bad."

Lil Wayne Gets Holy W/ T-Pain, Set To Voice Jesus Christ In Cartoon

News: Lil Wayne Gets Holy W/ T-Pain, Set To Voice Jesus Christ In Cartoon
Friday, Jan 1, 2010 10:45AM

Written by Biz Jones

Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has reportedly linked with T-Pain to play the voice of Jesus Christ in an upcoming Cartoon Network special.

While details are still sketchy, the show is slated to debut in March.

Julia Beverly from Ozone Magazine recently wrote about T-Pain's Christmas Party that took place on December 23rd. She mentioned that "Some Cartoon Network/Adult Swim execs came through to display clips from Pain's upcoming cartoon special "Freaknik," which airs on March 21st. In it, Lil Wayne provides the voice for Jesus Christ and performs a music video for "Ghetto Commandments." Several other rappers are featured on the cartoon." (New Lil Wayne)
Adult Swim Creative Director Jake Escobedo previously spoke on the show's concept.

"Basically it was a Black Spring Break that went down in Atlanta and got shut down back in '98 or '99. So the show is going to resurrect that, and it's going to be starring T-Pain and Lil' Wayne and all these other artists like David Banner and some other dudes. it's all drawn, and T-Pain plays the ghost of Spring Break, the Spirit of Freaknik. He brings this party back to Atlanta and the artists have done all this music for it, and it's amazing." (Complex)
Aside from the program, Wayne recently performed a farewell concert for his New Orleans, Louisiana fans.

The artist returned to his hometown of New Orleans for a performance Monday on what he's calling his farewell tour. "I'm nothing without you," he told the screaming crowd of thousands of fans at the New Orleans Arena after opening the concert with "A Milli," which last year earned him a Grammy for best rap solo. (The Press Association)
New Orleans was reportedly one of multiple farewell concerts Wayne planned to perform.

Lil Wayne is closing in on an expected one year sentence due to weapons possession charges. Monday, the Grammy-winning rapper played what is being dubbed the first of several farewell shows in his hometown -- New Orleans. After New Orleans, he is scheduled to play a couple of dates in Texas and another show in southern Louisiana. (Singersroom)

Diddy Draws Rick Ross & Biggie Comparisons, "That's A Mean Co-Sign"

News: Diddy Draws Rick Ross & Biggie Comparisons, "That's A Mean Co-Sign"
Friday, Jan 1, 2010 5:45PM

Written by Biz Jones

Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy has given Southern rapper Rick Ross a large co-sign by comparing his rhyming skills to the late Biggie Smalls.

Speaking in a video from their "Angels" remix video shoot, Diddy explained why he saw a version of B.I.G. in Ross.

"Oh y'all ain't hear the second verse," Diddy said about Ross' 'Angels' collaboration. "Yo, y'all gonna peep that when we world premiere that. I don't know, I guess him and Biggie locked up in the room, even my man Hen Roc even said that. For my man Hen Roc to say that and co-sign it like 'Yo, my man right there sounding like our homie.' That right there is something special. That's a mean co-sign, that's a mean co-sign. I don't know what was going on in the studio, the spirits were connecting but it's official. It ain't bootleg, it ain't got no preservatives in it." (Spliff TV)
Diddy revealed his video shoot details with Ross through Twitter last week.

"Shooting angels remix video with rick ross! DMC!!!!!!," he wrote Monday (December 28). "Still shooting angels remix with rick ross in miami! He did a second verse just for video!!! Thisis day 2! Don't stop!" (Diddy's Twitter)
Justice League producer Colione previously spoke on using Biggie Smalls as Ross inspiration.

"We actually went to the theaters and saw the Notorious [film]," he explained. "When we got home, we were inspired to work with B.I.G. So we started making tracks for him and 'Magnificent' was one of the beats that came out. We were like, 'Yo, if Biggie was alive today what would he rap to?' We were actually doing it for ourselves. Actually, our management sent that to Ross...We came up with the first 'Maybach Music.' He heard the actual track at the crib and he had a whole idea in his head like, 'Yo, I'm going to name this 'Maybach Music' and I'm going get Jay-Z on this. This going to be big!' So after that, you know, we just been working with him and supplying him some beats and he's really been studying music and his lyrics are getting better. His whole aura, I mean, he's going to be like unstoppable." (Vibe)
Diddy played a large role in the production of last year's Notorious film based on Biggie's life.

"It deserves to be honored at the Academy Awards," he said in a video earlier this year. "I've seen everything that was honored this year. From The Wrestler to Slumdog Millionaire. This joint right here, to me, is greater than those, I'm not gonna lie," Diddy said. "It's a whole year from now, but remember this movie. It would be a tragedy if you don't get this movie some jewelery and respect." (Diddy Confessional Part 4)

Rap veteran Snoop Dogg recently revealed his interest in singer Susan Boyle and shared his interest in doing a collaboration track with her.

According to Snoop, he respects the singer's strong I Dreamed a Dream debut last year.

"I told Susan Boyle, 'When you put your record out,' when she sells a few records, come holler at me," Snoop told radio host Chelsea Lately. "We can do a song together. Yeah [I'm a fan] because she was close to getting my record. You know I hold the record in the Guiness Book, I'm the only rapper to come out and debut number one and she was trying to get close to my record so I had to make sure she didn't. Yeah, I like her because she didn't get my record. If you set the studio session up, I'll do that." ("Chelsea Lately")
The rapper recently spoke on her success in the recording industry.

"That state of the industry, there's so many different artists, so you have a lot to choose from," Snoop explained in an interview. "When I came, there wasn't nobody coming like me. The way she did her thing, ain't nobody doing it like her. You gotta be different and diversify who you are and at the right time. Timing has to be impeccable, sometimes you don't have no control over that. I look at a lot of great artists, some of 'em didn't have a great first album but they doing good right now." (Rap Radar)
Last December, 50 Cent expressed his interest in recording with Boyle.

"Susan Boyle is hot right now." Fif told the Mirror. "I got to get her on a track, for real. We'd make a hit. Everyone is talking about her, the lady from 'Britain's Got Talent.' I'm always looking to do something new and she's cool, so I'll ask somebody to let her know. I'd love to take her clubbing, show her around my world. She'd have a great time." (Angry Ape)
The singer's I Dreamed a Dream had the biggest first-week sales of 2009 in early December.

Scottish singer Susan Boyle, known for appearing on "Britain's Got Talent" reality show, has debuted atop the charts at I Dreamed a Dream secured the number one spot this week. The international star's debut has sold 700,800 after one week in stores. (Sales Wrap)

Young Buck Drops G-Unit Diss, "Go Get Curtis Now & Tell Him Buck Said F*ck Em"

News: Young Buck Drops G-Unit Diss, "Go Get Curtis Now & Tell Him Buck Said F*ck Em"
Friday, Jan 1, 2010 9:00AM

Written by Biz Jones

Young Buck has broken his silence against former rap group G-Unit by releasing a new diss track called "Happy New Year" directed at 50 Cent's entire camp.

On the record, Buck also takes aim at Tony Yayo and Unit associate 40 Glocc.

"I'm just saying, they asked for this sh*t, I ain't popping no bottles n*gga," Buck says on the song. "I just buried my best friend, it's f*ck everything/F*ck them G-Unit n*ggas and whatever you claim, you better bang/I feel no pain as I kill y'all -- 40 [Glocc] speaking on me, you don't know me homie/But I know Compton n*ggas that wanna do that for me/Go get Curtis now, tell him Buck said f*ck 'em because for the last two years this h*e ain't said nothing/I came from the dirt, I'm sh*tting on your label and p*ssing on your paperwork/Look b*tch you need this, here go some energy/Yayo you know you the biggest h*e in the industry/It's all over now, y'all better kill me/Yeah I been selling dope to feed my baby, feel me/Ain't no way in h*ll I'mma do this yearly/So I'mma start it off by saying 'Happy New Year'....You could give me ten million and I wouldn't come back/What the f*ck is 50 Cent is what Jimmy said/Look at yourself, even now digging up the dead/Get some help all you had left was one Buck/And you lost that and f*cked up, now it's 'Happy New Year.'" ("Happy New Year")
50 recently said he was preparing a visual for his Buck and Game diss track, "So Disrespectful."

"It'll be out, there'll be a visual for it," Fif promised in an interview. "The record is working by itself, that one, you know, it just plays with no assistance from the record company because people like it and took it and personally enjoy it. But I wrote that record about people I have had issues with that were pretty cool or at some point I felt they crossed me. You know, so I wrote those different things and it came out good. People enjoy it." (Big FM)
He used "So Disrespectful" to address the former ex-Unit members.

On the very next record, there is no need to infer anything. 50 gets very blunt on "So Disrespectful," calling Young Buck a drug addict and the Game jealous. "C'mon, Game, you'll never be my equal," he raps. "Your homies shoot doors, my n*ggas shoot people/ See me, I'm what you're never gonna be/ I'm in that tax bracket you're never gon' see. "I ain't know he f*cked with more dope than B.G./ Plus a n*gga sip more syrup than Pimp C," Fif continues on the track. "Man, keeping these m*therf*ckers as rich ain't easy/ Especially when a n*ggaa wanna stunt like Jeezy/ And his CDs didn't sell like his CDs/ Man that n*gga blew all his chips on them breezies/ Mad cause the world won't treat him like Weezy." (MTV)
Despite their estranged relationship, 50 recently said Buck is still on the G-Unit Records roster.

"Buck is still signed to G-Unit Records, hopefully he can come up with a record. If he can come up with a song, we can get my money back, you know what I'm saying? I hope he can come up with something right quick. I'm looking forward to that check at least. They gotta pay me not to put the [G-Unit] logo on it." (This Is 50)

New York City radio veteran Funkmaster Flex has taken some time out to reflect on his view of the biggest hip-hop events and incidents of 2009.

Writing on his Twitter page New Year's Eve, Flex highlighted what events have caught his attention.

"Christina millian has played herself as well.. When dream kicks her to the curb... I'm going to seek and detroy.," Flex wrote. "What about rkelly dropping that brick album.. "Mr touchy feely" crazy that this is allowed...Russel made kamora.. Then you get with a corn ball n*gga and pop out a kid like its groovy... Aint sh*t groovy. I peeped it!!! It was wack...No dissrespect but solange knoles is never going to pop (sell records) Beyonce shouldn't have to carrry all that dead weight.. No dissrespect but kelly rolland is not going to pop also! Kellis played herself too!!! She's crazy for sh*tiing on nas. She was finished before nas gave her a life. What was she thinking...B*tch just because you f*cked joe buddens and was in the 50 video doesn't make you a celeb (buddens gave you a life) There is no new era hat that can fit rihanna ... No way!!! No dissrespect but beenie sigel dissing jayz didn't work at all...No dissrespect tpain dissing jayz didn't work at all!!! Lil wayne baby mammas is crazy!!When they decide to get upset.. They all getting tv shows!!!" (Funkmaster Flex's Twitter)
Last month, Flex aired out his thoughts to Beanie Sigel and Jay-Z's conflict.

"It's a hard position," Flex said in an interview, "[but] I think Jay should've let Sigel go in the first inkling that he wanted to be someplace else. I do agree with Jay-Z with something. He did allow Sigel every opportunity with the clothing line, record label and his record deal. And I don't think Sigel did anything wrong, but the game changed to where it wasn't profitable anymore with labels. The clothing business wasn't doing what it was doing. I don't know if he didn't do something or if the game just changed, because there were a lot of people with clothing lines. Jay's not gonna respond, he don't have to. He's the richest rapper and he just dropped a hot rock album. Let's keep it 100, T-Pain, I love T-Pain, I love T-Pain. I love Sigel. I love a lot of the artists that are out there and ain't nobody saying this album is wack." (XXL Mag)
He made headlines last summer after threatening to boycott Interscope Records artists from his radio show.

"Let me tell you something Nino, New York I'm talking to a person who makes decisions, who does things up there moving funny style," Flex said on his radio show about an Interscope employee. "Interscope Records, nothin' is spinning...50, from what I hear, your deal is up at Interscope, we got you. I'd walk out that building after that...That Eminem album is coming Interscope, I take pride in how I'm gonna do this movement...Unfortunately, we're not gonna be able to play those Eminem and Dr. Dre records and I'm so sorry this is the way this has to go down with this guy's album coming. I want us all to be friends, but Nino is not a friend of ours. I will go on with this, Nino, you got 24 hours to fix yourself or this goes some place else, tomorrow...Nino is the only one I'm letting off today, tomorrow I'm teeing off on the whole team." (Hot 97)
The popular deejay has been in the music industry for nearly two decades.

Throughout the 1990s he reigned over New York's mammoth rap scene, capable of making or breaking artists with his high-profile position at the top-rated radio station in America's top radio market, Hot 97. By the mid-'90s, he was also the weekly DJ at one of New York's top clubs, the Tunnel, and also had his radio show broadcasting on Los Angeles' Power 106, America's second largest radio market. 50 Cent Cashes In $100K On New Year's Eve 2009

News: 50 Cent Cashes In $100K On New Year's Eve 2009
Friday, Jan 1, 2010 7:00AM

Written by Biz Jones

Rapper 50 Cent has reportedly been named one of many celebrities to have made thousands of dollars to help bring in 2010 with party appearances and performances on New Year's Eve.

In addition to 50, Black Eyed Peas' Fergie reportedly banked over $700,000 last night (December 31).

According to sources at NewYearsEve.com, Fergie Ferg and the rest of the Peas will be kissing some serious green come midnight -- taking in more than $700,000 to show up and perform at LAX at the Luxor. As for the rest... 50 Cent -- $100,000 for a party at Pure at Caesars Palace. LMFAO -- $75,000 to perform at a place called Silk in Temecula Pete Wentz -- $30,000 to hang at Jet Nightclub in Vegas Nik Richie (the guy from TheDirty.com) -- $20,000 to appear at Pure in Vegas The cheapest of the group: Brody Jenner, who's pulling in a measly $10K to party at the Hotel Ganesvoort in Miami. (TMZ)
Details on the performance have also been revealed.

50 started his performance on the Pure roof deck, welcoming 2010 with his suggestively titled song "Have a Baby By Me, Baby, Be a Millionaire." About half an hour past midnight, the concert continued in the club's main room. "2010! We gonna ring it in right," the rapper called from the stage, now out of the black brocade jacket he sported for his walk down the red carpet and wearing a white jacket and his standard issue Yankees hat. Standing next to boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr, who obligingly held up a stack of cash, 50 launched into the first song of his roughly 45-minute set, "I Got Money." The pair played off each other throughout 50's 13-song tour through his hits with so much chemistry, Mayweather might consider joining the music man on his next tour. When 50 called out "I get money!", Mayweather held up his own pile of bills, fanning them out for all to see. It was like a beautiful interpretive dance, with Benjamins. (Las Vegas Weekly)
Rap mogul Diddy helped bring in the new year with free transportation to New York City and Las Vegas pedestrians.

After a successful run last year, the music mogul has teamed up with Ciroc Vodka for another Safe Rides program, which provides transportation in New York for those hammered after celebrating New Years Eve. For the first time, the program is being offered in Las Vegas. (VIBE)
The Bad Boy Records executive also spoke on the importance of featuring Vegas and the Big Apple this year.

"New York stands as the world's icon for a New Year's Eve celebration and Las Vegas is the biggest party destination in the country," Combs said in a statement. "By bringing this program to both of these great cities we will continue to show the rest of the country that a sophisticated holiday celebration doesn't end when the ball drops, but when everyone gets home safely." Mike Tyson Dodges Jail Time In LAX Photographer Assault

News: Mike Tyson Dodges Jail Time In LAX Photographer Assault
Friday, Jan 1, 2010 6:00AM

Written by Biz Jones

Former boxing champion Mike Tyson has reportedly been let off the hook and will not face criminal charges stemming from his publicized alleged assault on a photographer last month at Los Angeles's LAX airport.

According to reports, a lack of proper evidence secured Tyson's freedom.

Mike Tyson will not be prosecuted for allegedly punching a photog at LAX, TMZ has learned. The L.A. City Attorney officially rejected the case today, citing "insufficient evidence." Tyson's lawyer, the ever-effervescent Shawn Chapman Holley, tells TMZ, "The City Attorney's office made the right decision given the harassing conduct of the paparazzo." The City Attorney also declined to file charges against the photog. (TMZ)
Tyson's rep previously said he was protecting the safety of his wife and child.

"Mr. Tyson was traveling with his wife and 10 month-old child without security when he was attacked by an overly aggressive paparazzi [sic]. The truth will reveal Mike acted in self-defense as a father protecting his child. We are confident justice will prevail," says Tyson's rep, Tammy Brook. (E! Online)
Details on the victim's injuries were released last month.

Photographer Tony Echevarria, 50, said in video interview posted on TMZ.com that he "wasn't aggressive, I was shooting from a distance, and I was respectful." He indicated that his videotape should back up his story. Echevarria says he received five stitches and that Tyson, 43, hit him at least four times. "When you're getting hit by Mike Tyson, it's the worst thing in the world you can imagine," he said. (People Magazine)
Shortly after published reports circulated online, police confirmed the incident.

The photographer, who was not immediately identified, also was arrested. He suffered a cut to his forehead and was taken to a hospital. It was not known if Tyson was hurt. "There's a lot of different versions to the story," Los Angeles Airport Police Sergeant Jim Holcomb said. "That's all going to come out later. But in this particular case, both individuals are going to be pressing charges for battery." (Reuters)

T.I.'s Gun Trial, R.Kelly Sex Tape, Shyne Shooting Top Decade Legal Cases

Exclusive: T.I.'s Gun Trial, R.Kelly Sex Tape, Shyne Shooting Top Decade Legal Cases
Thursday, Dec 31, 2009 11:55PM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

As we move forward into a new decade, SOHH spoke with Lil Scrappy, Juvenile, DJ Webstar and Rakim to find out what was the biggest legal case over the past ten years.

For Scrap, T.I.'s publicized weapons case around 2007 and 2008 stood out to him.

"I'm just gonna say the biggest legal case I have seen was T.I.," Scrap said. "You feel me? 'Cause that just, god d*mn, you don't just get caught with that kind of stuff and just get blessed like that. He got a blessing. That was big, you know what I'm saying? [laughs] And then it just hit home because you be like d*mn, that could happen to me because n*ggas, be out there in them streets shorty, if you a real dude, you be out there in them streets -- not only that you like 'oh, I'm hard' it's like being put in situations where you gotta fend for yourself and you gotta stand up and be a man." (SOHH)
Caught slightly off-guard, Juvie felt R. Kelly's sex scandal was a top legal case.

"I think the biggest case, hmmm, you gotta say OJ [Simpson], was OJ's case in the last ten years," Juvenile asked. "Oh nah, okay, then it would have to be R. Kelly. Yeah, yeah." (SOHH)
Webstar agreed and pointed out why Kelly's case qualified as the biggest legal suit he has seen in the past ten years.

"You would have to say the R. Kelly rape, uh, when Shyne shot up in the club with Diddy," Web reflected. "Nah, I think it was the R. Kelly thing, him beating that charge. That girl didn't look like she was no 15, I don't care what you would say about it, it was him in that video. It was him in the video, but he beat it. But, it's like a Catch-22, it was him in the video but that girl didn't look like she was no 15, that girl looked like she was a grown women." (SOHH)
While reflecting on Kells, Rakim said the billion dollar scandal involving Bernie Madoff was the biggest legal case from over ten years.

"I think the Bernie Madoff jump-off," Rakim said. "I think it really opend people's eyes and it showed it could pop off anywhere. So I think, you know, the R. Kelly thing was crazy, there were a lot of things that went on that we never found out, a lot of things that went on but I think the Bernie Madoffthing was right in your face, like, 'Look, he took paper and he took a lot of paper,' and you don't really have to know too much more after that. He took a lot of paper. I think that's it right there." (SOHH)

Raekwon Narrows Date For Joint Album W/ Method Man & Ghostface Killah

News: Raekwon Narrows Date For Joint Album W/ Method Man & Ghostface Killah

Written by Rosario Harper

Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon has given the latest update on his delayed Method Man and Ghostface Killah joint album and said fans should prepare for its release early next year.

According to Raekwon, the long-awaited project is almost ready for retail release.

"Everything is a go from what I'm hearing," he said in an interview. "It's a record that's gonna come out on Def Jam so...I really don't have too much knowledge on it. I spoke to [Method Man] and he's telling me by the middle of February the album should be already solidified. So, that's what I'm hoping [is] gonna happen. We'll see what Def Jam [will] do. I'm just coming in as a piece on the board just to really go in and do what I gotta do. But we gon' see how they handle the business with that album...We still got more things that we wanna do. We ain't never wrapped. We gon' definitely make sure that we really give y'all a tight album, and [make sure that] everybody's opinions and criticisms account for this record." (Hip Hop DX)
Raekwon recently confirmed past reports of the project being delayed through 2010.

"We wanted that pushed back, I fought for that because I felt that it wasn't enough time, the chemistry is still boiling," Raekwon explained in an interview. "When you think about us putting something together, it's gotta be stupid so my brothers are respecting my feelings on it, I'm respecting their feelings on it, we all saying the same sh*t so. At the end of the day, when yall get the album, enjoy it and get ready for some other sh*t." (57th Ave)
Reports of the album being delayed spread online last month.

"[Redman's] Reggie Noble 9 1/2 and the forthcoming Method Man, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah´s album are moving to an early 2010 release date," she wrote in a statement. "Stay tuned for an announcement of the official release dates." Both projects were slated to arrive into retail stores next month with Wu arriving for the holiday shopping season on December 22nd, but will now be pushed back until next year. (Press Release)
From Wu-Tang frontman RZA's perspective, the threesome's group album is long overdue.

"I think it's a great idea," RZA said of Raekwon, Ghostface and Method Man teaming up. "I was pushing that idea to them years ago. Back in the day, we was gonna have a branch called 'The Brothers From the Grain' that was kinda those guys right there. I'm gonna see Meth tonight in the studio to see if I could add on something to that project. Add some depth to it. They are three of the most prolific voices in Wu-Tang...We're at a period of life, if anybody from Wu-Tang needs me, I'm there for them. Everybody has grown and matured to where we don't need each other." (MTV)
The new group album is slated to drop Tuesday, February 9th.

Vivica A. Fox On Re-Linking W/ 50 Cent, "I Got This Surprise Call"

News: Vivica A. Fox On Re-Linking W/ 50 Cent, "I Got This Surprise Call"

Actress Vivica A. Fox has shared how she came back together with ex-boyfriend 50 Cent for his "Do You Think About Me" music video and her overall reaction to their chemistry.

According to Fox, she was the determining factor that changed the music video's initial direction to focus on her past relationship with 50.

"I always had love for him and I got this surprise call," Fox told television host Mo' Nique. "And [he] said 'I need you,' and I said, 'I know you do.' It was great because we had never worked together before. We had never worked together before and people are fascinated with this connection so you know, we went and did the video and I was really, really honored to do the video but if I can tell this little inside story -- I thought it would be wonderful for me to poke fun at our relationship and the rumors and the craziness and I heard one time I drove through this gate in a grey Range Rover, I was stalking him, this that and the third meanwhile I'm in Baltimore, your hometown, making a film." ("The Mo' Nique Show")
Earlier this year, Rick Ross used 50's relationship with Vivica A. Fox as a beef tool.

"If a b*tch f*ck him, she ends her career," Ross explained. "Look at Vivica, look at Vivica. Any b*tch f*ck that monkey, you're lost, you caught up. Baby, it's like, it's only the fortune. Come on, at least try to hide the sh*t. He ended that b*tch Vivica's career though. She on reality shows now, it's like d*mn. I used to like her, I used to like her. When's the last time you seen her on something...All y'all young ladies, do your business careers a favor, stay away from the monkey, see what he did to Vivica." (The Life Files)
KING Magazine covergirl Tahiry Jose recently spoke on her role in the "Do You" music video.

"Being involved with 50, yes [it's great], the video shoot [laughs]," Tahiry told DJ Whoo Kid in an interview. "He's awesome. No, no, no, he's awesome. He is a very smart person, he's very care-taking. He took very good care of me. See, let me explain something to you, I'm not with the whole [revenge moves], everything that's happening, people have their issues. It is a [coincidence] on my part, I was called for a part in the video, his love interest and I said 'Okay, 50, why not?'" (Radio Planet TV)

Chris Brown Returns To Twitter, "I Decided To Come Back"

News: Chris Brown Returns To Twitter, "I Decided To Come Back"
Thursday, Dec 31, 2009 11:52AM

Written by Rosario Harper

Just weeks after deleting his Twitter page, Chris Brown has had a change of heart and has re-joined the public social network.

Writing in his first new Tweets, Chris promised to stay for good this time.

"Please Follow me back, Im back on twitter for good now....I was going thru some things but ya boy is back 2010 Lets Go!," he wrote on New Year's Eve. "It might telling you that ur following me & when you click my page ur not because I reactivated my page...so Re Click the FOLLOW button Yes this is really me, I decided to come back & connect with the fans for 2010 its only right because I LOVE yall....So Please ReFollow me My account will be verified again soon!" (Chris Brown's Twitter)
He previously deleted the page in mid-December.

Chris Brown is the latest artist to abandon the service completely, following the precedent set by Miley Cyrus and Lil Wayne. Brown's exit came after a week's worth of Twitter-based ranting about stores not stocking his new album Graffiti. Only a few hours after that revelation, Brown issued his finally tweet: "I wanna thank my fans for all the support," he wrote. "Goodbye!" The old address for his Twitter page now leads to the dreaded "Sorry, that page does not exist!" screen. (MTV)
Soulja Boy Tell Em shared his reaction to Brown's unexpected move.

"I was thinking about that last night man," Soulja Boy told radio personality Tim Westwood. "I just think, I don't know man, you see Miley Cyrus deleted hers and then when he did it I was just thinking like 'Who's gonna be next to delete their Twitter?' I don't never say never because you never know, one day I might just wake-up and be like I don't wanna be on Twitter no more but right now, nah, I don't think I'd ever delete my Twitter. I work hard for them followers, the 1.9 milli's baby. They gonna be disappointed in me man." (Tim Westwood TV)
Kid Cudi previously explained why he deleted his popular Twitter page.

"I have an iPhone and I don't even utilize all of the applications on it," Cudi explained. "Just alone on an iPhone you can have multiple e-mails -- I have two e-mails -- text messaging, some people have AIM on there, MySpace, Facebook -- and I don't even have those things...With Twitter, my two e-mails, text messaging, and my phone ringing, that's just overwhelming. And you gotta think of it like this, what did they do before there were cell phones? Use a pay phone or write a letter. Or you catch 'em at the crib....I think I want to take it back to that. Sometimes it just shouldn't be that easy for you to get in contact with me." (Rap-Up)

Crooked I Warns Benzino: "Calm Down."

Crooked I Warns Benzino: "Calm Down."
12.31.09 | by Andres Tardio

Recently, Benzino put out a video dis of a track directed towards Royce Da 5'9". Wasting little time, Crooked I has now released his reaction to the feud in video form.

"You're talking too much, homie. You're doing too much. There's only a couple ways to get out of a beef. You might as well squash this shit," he says in the video.

He also sheds light on what may have started the beef.

"I know you was mad because [Slaughterhouse] didn't do the motherfucking interview with your magazine. But, that was some other shit. You know what that was about. You shouldn't have even spoke on it or caught feelings, nigga. If you're a real gangster, you don't catch feelings over that shit. You're thinking with your emotions right now."

Reacting to guns in Benzino's video, he says there was no need for that.

"Calm down, homie. It's not about all that bullshit...I got love for Boston. Don't go there, man. You went too far showing motherfucking pistols and all that type of shit. That shit's not gangster. That shit is called incriminating yourself. That shit is not gangster."

Adding a warning of sorts, he also calls for an end to the feud.

"If you respect me, nigga, you will stop all that. If you don't respect me, it's going to go where it gotta go...My nigga Nickel, that's my nigga and I'm not going to let no nigga talk foul about my nigga, ever."

"It's not going to be pretty, homie. It's goin' to be ugly...It's not worth it...You know me. I know you...Fuck that shit. Don't let the internet get you caught up in some shit. You don't have no problem with Slaughterhouse, nigga. Slaughterhouse ain't ever did nothing to you. You have no problems with Slaughterhouse. Do you. We'll do us. That's it."

Adding more about the origin of the feud, he brings up the interview again.

"You already know the politics behind the reason why the Slaughterhouse interview didn't go down on your motherfucking magazine. You know all that, dog. Just keep that shit like it's supposed to be...You know what I'm talking about homie."

Shyheim Talks "Disrespectfully Speaking," Bottom Up Records

Shyheim Talks "Disrespectfully Speaking," Bottom Up Records
12.31.09 | by Sean Ryon

From Kriss Kross to Lil Romeo, child rappers have long been perceived more as marketing schemes than bona fide artists. Yet even the harshest of critics can’t deny the level of artistry displayed by Hip Hop child prodigy and former Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Shyheim. Now, 16 years since debut on 1993's “On and On” at the age of 14, Shyheim is still hard at work rocking the mic. He released his fifth solo album, Disrespectfully Speaking, this past October on his label Bottom Up Records and is planning for two more releases in 2010. Shyheim spoke to HipHopDX about how he has grown as an artist and what it means for his career.

“I just grow with my music,” explained Shyheim. “Everyday is life with my shit and I think that’s what my music different from that of every other artist out there. I grew up in Hip Hop. Everything that was recorded from when I was a child until now, it was my life. It wasn’t a marketing scheme. It wasn’t something created like someone going over and saying, ‘Yo, let’s make these type of records’ when I don’t make those types of records. If I had a marketing scheme and did that and sat down and made records, then I’d probably be triple platinum. But then again, I’d be sacrificing what’s real to me.”

Shyheim touched on one of the most personal tracks featured on Disrespectfully Speaking called “Pain.” The song finds the Staten Island emcee tackling the subject of his late mother’s drug addiction. Shyheim explained the therapeutic elements of writing such a highly personal song and how his music acts as a sobering reality to the glitz and glam of most modern Hip-Hop.

“[Songs like 'Pain' are] my therapy,” he said. “I’ll be honest, I lost my mom on July 7…from an overdose. It’s like I just take the cards that were dealt to me and by me saying lines like, ‘I’m looking in my mother’s face/Seeing drugs eat her away,’ I felt that way. I watched drugs eat her away. I watched it…she was sitting like ‘Yo, I want a sandwich,’ but I know what she was going to buy. But I still had to give it to here because I couldn’t ever see my mother working for nothing.”

He later added, “I think a lot of artists nowadays get caught up, and I think what I see as an artist and [how] I keep it so real…reminds [people] of what’s really going on. So a lot of people get in the smoke and the clouds of illusion of, ‘Yeah, yeah, I got this, I got that,’ and you may want that and get caught up in that illusion, but when you wake up, it’s what it is. That’s why people drink and smoke weed and dust and shit, that’s how they escape. My music is not the escape drug. My music is rehab, we’re going to talk about this shit.”

The Rugged Manchild also discussed his transition from strictly being an artist to becoming the head of his own independent label Bottom Up Records. He says that his experience in the industry with the Wu-Tang Clan primed him for taking on such a role and has shown him the best way to handle a roster of up-and-coming artists.

“I’ve seen the bullshit and I’ve seen many labels like Bottom Up before me come and fall apart and I asked myself a question: why is that?” said Shyheim. “Why is it that I’ve seen Wu-Tang, I’ve seen Roc-a-Fella beefing, I’ve seen Dipset [break up], I’ve seen many crews [fall apart] after getting money? Why is that? And ultimately, I always hear that ‘Oh, I wasn’t getting me money, this person wasn’t doing this for me, he wasn’t doing that for me’…[what] I have to…basically have is independent contract[s], so any artist on Bottom Up is an independent contractor. As they come to Bottom Up and they do music and do music videos, I may put out their album. But if they don’t continue walk and pursue their own career, and watch my steps and learn from me and take the knowledge to go on, it’s not my fault. It’s their fault. I’m not locking them into [a place] where they can’t do what they need to do.”

With two albums slated for release in 2010, Shyheim doesn’t appear to be letting the industry or the economy keep him down. He spoke on the as-of-yet untitled projects and how he hopes to build a legacy through them not just for himself, but also for his Staten Island brethren.

“This album is going to be more transitionary,” he explained. “I think it’s time that I give people 100% of me…just making quality music. You might hear some shit that may be club-going. You may hear some deep shit, but I’m going to give it 100% Shy. And then the next quarter [in] June, there will be another Bottom Up album where I feature…all the talent that is coming from Staten Island…[they] are all independent artists from Staten Island that I’m trying to teach ownership…so [they] can have longevity and a legacy because if I don’t pass the torch, who’s going to keep it alive?”

Benzino Clears Up Royce Da 5'9 & Raekwon Conflict, "Rae Ain't Have Nothing To Do W/ It"

News: Benzino Clears Up Royce Da 5'9 & Raekwon Conflict, "Rae Ain't Have Nothing To Do W/ It"
Thursday, Dec 31, 2009 9:05AM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Former Source Magazine owner Benzino has cleared up initial confusion with his "Break To Build" Royce Da 5'9 diss track intentionally including a verse from Raekwon as a sign of support.

While Zino says there is no beef, the rapper did, however, use a video to flash a gun as a warning to what could happen if a conflict occurs against Slaughterhouse.

Zino's track was released earlier this week.

"Stash y'all the treasure, switching up the strategy," Zino raps, "Move outta character, flip him like a pancake/Seven figure salary, deals on the handshake/Armed full of angels, fresh with a low cut/Add it to your blazer, n*gga what you know about it/Over time hustlin', money and motivation/Spittin' over concussions, standing ovation/Outta pocket n*ggas get dealt with/Serial killers be at your crib then we turning to Celtic..." ("Break To Build")
Following the song's release, Raekwon said his vocals were never meant for a diss track.

"For the record i wanna say i take no part in nobodys diss song," he wrote Monday (December 28), "I just sent them a verse thts it! THATS BTW THEM BROTHERS KEEP ME OUTTA IT!" (Raekwon's Twitter)
Earlier this month, Royce dropped his "No Coming Back From That" record going at Zino and Canibus.

"Now b*tches want my attention like the Canibus diss," Royce raps. "You ain't got no mechanical handle, quit handling d*ck/We liked you before the army, now we ain't a fan of your sh*t/You know my Mac pop, Detroit is my backdrop/Shut your a** up and go have some sex with your laptop...Benzino, the hardest n*gga, you don't know him for hammers/You know him for talking sh*t with N.O.R.E. behind the cameras/I blam at ya and damage ya." ("Back From That")

Diddy Files $2.5 Million Lawsuit Against Landlord

News: Diddy Files $2.5 Million Lawsuit Against Landlord
Wednesday, Dec 30, 2009 8:30PM

Written by Biz Jones

Rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has reportedly filed a $2.5 million lawsuit against a New York City landlord over damages relating to his popular Sean John clothing retail store.

According to reports, the claims go as far back as 2006.

According to a lawsuit filed in New York, Diddy's company -- Christian Casey LLC -- leased a portion of a ground floor building on Fifth Avenue in NYC for its flagship clothing store. Diddy lawyers claim sometime in 2006 the building owners put up sidewalk scaffolding and just left it there -- sending Sean John sales down the toilet -- down nearly 50%. They claim the scaffolding "substantially obstructed the view of the clothing and furnishings displayed in the ground floor windows." Team Diddy is suing for $2.5 mil in damages. (TMZ)
Soulja Boy Tell Em found himself having landlord issues and owing nearly $10,000 in unpaid bills earlier this year, which he later responded to via a flashy video.

"Got d*mn breaking news shawty," Soulja Boy said with a camera focused on his jewelery. "Man they said Bugs Bunny died today shawty, they said I stole all the carrots from that n*gga shawty. He couldn't eat bruh, look at all this sh*t. N*gga talking about 200 on a Soulja Boy chain, 150 on The World Is Yours [chain], 20 stacks on every ring, 50 stacks on every watch, 250 on the Lambo [pendant], 150 on the S.O.D. [chain], I don't even know how much the Louis cost, I don't know how much the Gucci cost, I don't know how much that Louis cost, n*ggas wanna put my plaques on the wall, man. Gang, gang gang, S.O.D. n*gga. So much jewelery n*gga, show 'em the S.O.D. chain. Then I f*ck around and open the, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. They took me to jail, I told my n*gga, 'Yo, just go to my crib and just get one of these out, bruh and come get me outta jail bruh.'" (YouTube)
Besides legal woes, Diddy is helping people celebrate New Year's Eve with free public transportation in New York City and Las Vegas.

"By bringing this program to both of these great cities we will continue to show the rest of the country that a sophisticated holiday celebration doesn't end when the ball drops, but when everyone gets home safely." (NBC New York)
No further details have been offered regarding Diddy's lawsuit.

Fabolous Analyzes R&B Rappers, "People Used To Get Mad At Ja Rule For Singing"

News: Fabolous Analyzes R&B Rappers, "People Used To Get Mad At Ja Rule For Singing"
Wednesday, Dec 30, 2009 8:00PM

Written by Rosario Harper

New York rapper Fabolous recently shared his opinion on emcees taking the role of R&B singers by crooning on tracks and questioned why Ja Rule received so much heat in the past.

For Fab, various hit records over the past year have included melodies and singing.

"I don't got no problems with that," Fab explained in an interview. "Some rappers sing, some rappers rap. It's about melody I think. Certain people used to get mad at Ja Rule for singing -- everybody was mad, you may say he's not singing on key or whatever, but all these guys are singing and using auto-tune -- I've never had a problem with it. It's melody, melodic, a lot of the joints that are hit records have that form to them. 50 [Cent] used to say he was singing, it was different than Ja because of what he was singing about, but it's still him singing his own hooks. Just because it's not an R&B guy singing, it's still singing. It's the same thing." (Real Talk NY)
Ja Rule associate Cadillac Tah previously spoke on 50 using the rapper's singing style on his "Candy Shop" hit back in 2005.

"I guess [his plan] was for him to try to Tupac it, Tupac and Biggie," Tah explained in an interview. "Find a target, go after the target to make people look at him. That's kinda always been his little strategy even when he made the song 'How to Rob.' He did that so everybody would switch the attention to him, it wasn't like that was a bad plan. It worked, so if it worked it means it was a good plan. I was just not advising him to do that -- He played a ill strategic game. He threw Ja off of his grind and jumped on Ja's sh*t. He always wanted what Ja had, I mean that kinda fame, how Ja was killing 'em on the radio songs every five minutes...He came in the game with 'What up blood, what up cuz,' and then it's 'I wanna take you to the candy shop,' and he would start singing a whole lot. It's the same sh*t you had my n*gga on the Summer Jam screen about, making fun of that -- and you d*mn near made a whole singing album like that." (Ms Drama TV)
Earlier this year, Rule shared his reaction to 50's "Behind The Music" VH1 special and said he deserved credit for the rapper's success.

"It's not new, he's always talking about me," Rule said in an interview about 50. "N*ggas love me man. Ol' Boo Boo was talking about me again? Let's get back to this b*tch a** n*gga Boo Boo. I should [get a check from 50]. That n*gga, man, he owes me a lot of checks man when you really want to think about it." (World Star Hip Hop)
Kid Cudi previously spoke with SOHH about being compared to rap newcomers like Drake who can sing and rap.

"I'm not really comfortable with the word 'trend' and you throwing me in that group [laughs]," Cudi said about being compared to Drake and T-Pain. "But of course, it's inevitable when the media kinda takes something, a collection of things, and throw it all in the same box. But uhm, that's why I'm really excited about this album because once it drops and people hear it, they're gonna understand that like, that category you just mentioned, you'll never want to include me in it again. [laughs] I'm not like, part of that, I'm not a trend. You know what I mean? I'm kinda like, I've worked so hard to separate myself from anything that's trendy. You know what I mean?" (SOHH)

Floyd Mayweather On Rick Ross Beef, "If You Start Trouble, I Gotta Finish It"

News: Floyd Mayweather On Rick Ross Beef, "If You Start Trouble, I Gotta Finish It"
Wednesday, Dec 30, 2009 5:55PM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr. recently spoke on moving beyond his past differences with Rick Ross despite publicly inviting the rapper's son and ex-girlfriend to his home last month.

According to Floyd, he no longer has any issues with the Boss.

"Like I said before, we had a little problem, what he do is what he do and what I do is what I do," Mayweather explained to DJ Whoo Kid. "You know how it is. With anybody, if you start trouble, you know, I gotta finish it. Like I said before, he did what he had to do and I did what I had to do. And that's in the past and I'll leave it where it's at...Well, I'm the biggest boss that you've seen thus far." [laughs] " (Radio Planet TV)
Floyd made headlines last month when he was seen on camera with Ross' family and rap rival 50 Cent.

"It's Floyd's spot," Fif said during a segment of the video. "We in Vegas, doing it real big. I got the boys with me. Say hi man, say hi. What's up, that's all we gonna tell you. ThisIs50.com, it ain't nothin'!" The footage also shows 50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather taking multiple photos with Ross' former girlfriend, Tia Kemp, their children and other invited guests including Diddy and movie director Gary Gray. (YouTube)
Ross took a few verbal jabs at the boxer in an interview last October.

"Well, she did some things," Ross jokingly said about why he is involved in a beef with Mayweather. "Just to get some attention, said some things and I punished her. She got my attention so I lashed out. I punished her and now she just released another statement retracting what she was saying before. That's all I wanted, stay in your place young lady. We know you're sweet. Straight sugar. I'ma be honest, I am a fan. He said it, I did go to the fights. The $5,500 seats, yeah, I was right there, I coulda threw a red soda on you. She lives an alternative lifestyle and we gonna leave it at that. Much success to your boxing but just respect the G's." (UStream)
Describing their different careers, Mayweather recently promised Ross was not on his radar earlier this year.

"I just think that when you are one a certain level, you just let things go by," Mayweather said about his situation with the "Boss." "I'm a fighter. That's what I do. I'm into contact. He's a rapper. That's what he do. The thing I'm gonna do is stay in my lane and let him stay in his lane. But it seems Rick Ross is a fan of Floyd Mayweather -- in fact, Rick Ross was at the Ricky Hatton fight. He paid money to see me... I appreciate the donation from Rick Ross." (MTV)

Lil Scrappy, Warren G, Playaz Circle, Juvenile Name Barack Obama Person Of The Decade

Exclusive: Lil Scrappy, Warren G, Playaz Circle, Juvenile Name Barack Obama Person Of The Decade
Wednesday, Dec 30, 2009 4:45PM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

As we move forward into a new decade, SOHH spoke with Lil Scrappy, Warren G, Playaz Circle and Juvenile to find out who had the biggest impact in society over the past ten years.

Without doubt, the top choice amongst all of the rappers the SOHH polled was President Barack Obama.

"Oh, Obama," Scrappy said without hesistation. "Obama, yeah, ain't nobody more impactful than Obama. F*ck all the other sh*t, f*ck your day dreams, you feel me? Like, that's a dream come true. That's an impact, I lost my breath when that sh*t happened." (SOHH)
Warren G also highlighted Barack's emphasis on making universal change for Americans.

"I gotta give it to Barack Obama because he's the president and is the first black president," Warren G explained, "so far he's made an impact as far as this health insurance and he's making an impact as we speak on the economy, I know it's not right away but it will happen. And people gotta understand that it's not just gonna happen overnight." (SOHH)
Playaz Circle also felt Obama was a top candidate for person of the decade.

"Probably Obama," Tity Boi reflected for a minute. "Well, but that's recent. "Osama Bin Laden," Dolla Boy added. "He went and f*cked everything up." (SOHH)
Juvenile saw the president's election as instrumental motivation for minorities.

"I gotta say Barack Obama definitely because I don't think we ever had not just a black president, but a black vice president," Juvenile explained. "I never heard of that either so just to have him in office, it kinda gives the minority the chance, we all feel now we have the opportunity to do anything. So it's kinda like a big thing not just for blacks, but all the minorities around the world so Barack is definitely the biggest impact." (SOHH)

Scott Storch On Timbaland Quitting Hip-Hop, "It's Not As Strong As It Was At One Point"

News: Scott Storch On Timbaland Quitting Hip-Hop, "It's Not As Strong As It Was At One Point"
Wednesday, Dec 30, 2009 3:35PM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Producer Scott Storch has shared his views on Timbaland's move away from the rap game and said he could understand the beatmaker's decision.

Storch also revealed that he is no longer being a part of a rumored reality show.

"I love hip-hop," Storch responded when asked about Tim's decision. "I love all music. In terms of its place in the market. Its not, you know, technically as strong and other [forms] of music. I shouldn't even say that. It's not as strong as it was at one point, dominating like everything. I still there there's gems and plenty of ill hip-hop records to make. Living proof is Jay-Z...I'm not doing that [reality show]. It was something that was talked about, but no...You know what? It was interfering with my life. Its not me. I've had enough people talking and sh*t like that. I don't want to have one more thing for people poking fun at. What I originally was thinking about doing a show for was...that message got lost. What the producers wanted out of the show...I wanted something that would inspire people, in terms of recovery and something inspirational. That's not what it turned into." (All Hip Hop)
Timbaland recently explained why he moved on from rap.

"I was done with hip-hop a long time ago," he said in an interview. "Once my generation left, I left. I do it, but there's nobody from my generation besides Jay-Z who's doing it. I look at Lil Wayne as being from my generation. Some people are still acceptable. Kanye [West] is acceptable from my generation. It's just not the same. By it not being the same, I kind of fade to black. I did music that fits where I was going to in my age bracket. 'What does Tim listen to in his car all the time?' I love '80s music. So how do I infuse '80s with modern-day music? You Timbo the King, you gotta figure it out. I figured it out a couple of years ago with Nelly [Furtado] and Justin [Timberlake] and myself. We had a tremendous run. I think it was good for me to do it that, because some people would say 'Tim is cold.' The same people who smile in my face would be the same ones to talk behind my back. But I got this run, I'm not gonna stop until I wanna stop." (MTV)
Details surrounding Storch's now-defunct reality show landed online last spring.

The show will give an introspective look into the life of this dynamic and incredible talent. The show will also document him making hit records with all of the hottest acts in the industry while opening the door to the hot and trendy Miami music scene. Also, it will capture Mr. Storch's ups and downs in the volatile music business. (California Chronicle)
Executive producer David Weintraub had also confirmed the deal and spoke on what fans could have expected.

"This is a monumental moment to see a producer of his caliber let the cameras into his world and see how hit records are made," he explained. "A lot of people have tried to get Scott to open up the curtain to this process but have never been successful." (Hip Hop Pop Crunch)

Rick Ross, Rakim, Juvenile & DJ Webstar Reveal Their Favorite Albums Of The Decade

Exclusive: Rick Ross, Rakim, Juvenile & DJ Webstar Reveal Their Favorite Albums Of The Decade
Wednesday, Dec 30, 2009 11:30AM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

As we move forward into a new decade, SOHH spoke with Rick Ross, Rakim, Juvenile and DJ Webstar to find out what their favorite album of the past ten years is.

The "Boss," could not answer the question without looking at the past two decades.

"Other than my projects that we released, in the last ten years, it would be hard for me to answer," Ross told SOHH. "But most definitely, a little longer than that, I think those were the last albums that really influenced me and just leaked into my soul. The Life After Death's, The All Eyez On Me, The UGK Riding Dirty, I could even go further to Amerikkka's Most Wanted. Don't get it wrong, I listen to the music these days, but I won't necessarily ride to it." (SOHH)
Rakim had a bit more difficulty and came down to a few R&B album selections.

"For the past ten, that's a good question, that's a good question -- I don't know if I can give that to one person," Rakim admitted. "Well with rap, I kinda like different artists from different things and I don't know if it's a whole album with me. I think as far as music man, I like ground-breaking and it might not even be rap. If it's Chrisette Michelle's new album, if it's Jill Scott's album, I think albums should get a couple of years because it was incredible. It could be anything with me." (SOHH)
Juvenile, however, was quick to crown Nelly's Country Grammar as his top album.

"You gotta say Nelly when you go down to record sales," Juvie told SOHH. "Nelly did Country Grammar and that sold 9 million and I don't think anybody surpassed that because everybody else had double CD's. [50 Cent] also impacted his sales by having a double CD well not all the way through but he had a way where he packaged it to a double CD. So some of his record sales counted for two and that's kinda like tricking the system. He did have a great album but I gotta give it to Nelly because he got the Grammy's and all that in one sweep." (SOHH)
DJ Webstar stayed loyal to his hometown by choosing New York's 50 Cent and his debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

"The biggest album, hmmm," Webstar thought. "The biggest album would have to be Lil Wayne's last album, no, Get Rich or Die Tryin'. I think Get Rich or Die Tryin' because he was so anticipated and if he would have had one wrong song on that album, it would have messed the whole album up. I think every song on that album was hot and he just did a great job at putting that album together. So I think, Get Rich or Die Tryin', 50 Cent had the most because he delivered when people was like, waiting for you." (SOHH)

Rappers Homes and Creations Help Market Expensive Hotel

Rappers Homes and Creations Help Market Expensive Hotel

They may have engaged in friendly competition to promote their respective albums in 2007, but an established hotel is utilizing nonmusic-related possessions from Kanye West and 50 Cent to help market itself to wealthy clientele.

According to Bloomberg.com the Hollywood home of the G-Unit leader has been used to train staff members at the Cheval Blanc hotel in the French ski town of Courcheve.

The rooms cost $67,466.00 per-night.

The hotel, co-owned by LVMH Moet Hennessy and Belgian billionaire Albert Frere, is noted for its grand style and pricey array of services that include a Michelin three-star chef, bedtime chocolates delivered to your room aboard a gondola and “Hair Room Service" by famed barber John Nollet.

Rooms range from a basic single room with a maxibar full of Krug Champagne to a 650-square-meter duplex sky ranch to a master bedroom on a fifth-floor super suite that features a gym, private elevator, massage room, sauna, steam room, grand piano, Jacuzzi and a dressing room with eight closets and 84 drawers and shelves.

The home of 50 Cent is used by Cheval Blanc chief protocol officer Marie-Claude Metrot to prepare the hotel’s 115 staff members (or “players” as they’re called) to help bring the venue and its assets to life, while catering to their guests every need.

In her eyes, the ability for workers to fulfill the fantasies of guests is important in making a stay at the Cheval Blanc more of an experience than anything else.

“We deliver dreams,” Metrot said. “We don’t let guests think. We anticipate their desires.”

In addition to 50 Cent, Cheval Blanc has drawn support from Kanye West. The Chicago hitmaker created bronze teddy bears to display at the 34-room venue.

West and 50 Cent's contributions to Cheval Blanc serve as a contrast to the competitive nature displayed by the rappers in 2007.

That year, 50 Cent's Curtis album went head-to-head with West's Graduation to see who could sell the most copies of their respective projects on September 11.

West ultimately won the battle, selling 957,000 copies of Graduation on its first week of release. The Curtis album, which included the hit "I Get Money," came up short during the competition, with 691,000 copies sold in its first week.

Teddy Riley Speaks on Spoiled Daughter’s Assault Allegation

Teddy Riley Speaks on Spoiled Daughter’s Assault Allegation
Published Wednesday, December 30, 2009 3:17 PM

By Ismael AbduSalaam
New Jack Swing pioneer and Blackstreet founder Teddy Riley is denying reports that he assaulted one of his daughters, claiming the allegation is the result of a financial dispute.

Riley's 18-year-old daughter Taja filed a temporary restraining order against her father, claiming that she and her older sister were stomped and punched.

The Los Angeles court filing also states that Teddy Riley allegedly threatened to kill them while swinging a Rock Band video game guitar.

In a prepared statement, Riley explained that he spoiled his children over the years, and his daughter’s legal case is a response to him being a stronger disciplinarian.

“I love my daughters, but I will not allow my children to disrespect me in my home. Contrary to what I have been accused of, I would never beat my children,” Riley stated to TMZ.com. “Perhaps, I should have been a stronger disciplinarian as they were growing up. I worked very hard so that my children would want for nothing. In hindsight, I see that it was a mistake to give them everything they wanted so that they could have the childhood I never had. Unfortunately, they have taken me, and the privileged life I have given them, completely for granted.”

While not directly addressing specifics from the incident, Riley further alluded to the confrontation happening over some form of disrespect.

“Instead of being appreciative and realizing how fortunate they are, my children have an inflated sense of entitlement and expectation without having to work or earn their way,” Riley continued. “However, my 'children' are no longer children, they are adults and I am trying to instill in them values and a work ethic of their own. I am not an uptight Dad, I am as hip as they come but I will not tolerate being taken advantage of or disrespected, especially in my home… I'm asking everyone to let this one go... I'm only being a good parent. I'm a great father and everyone who knows me, knows this is true.”

At press time, Teddy Riley has to remain at least 100 yards from his daughter Taja until their January 2010 hearing.

Drake Talks Collabo With Jay-Z

Drake Talks Collabo With Jay-Z
12.31.09 | by Slava Kuperstein

For those who have waited, Drake has finished a collaboration with Jay-Z titled "Light Up."

"When I heard that beat, the drums that they had come up with, it was like, 'Man, this is a moment,' " said the Toronto rapper to MTV News. " 'This sounds like where I'm at in my life.' So, we took it and 40 did what he does to pieces of music that I see potential in — he took it to the next spot. Jay-Z's on it. The song is phenomenal. It's done now."

"40" refers to Noah "40" Shebib, the producer of the track.

Jay and Drake hooked up on The Blueprint 3 track "Off That," but the song only featured Drake on the verse. He says that this time around, both emcees will have proper verses.

The young rapper also indicated that he expects to have Lil Wayne and Kanye West contribute as well.

Kid Cudi: I Don't Give a Fuck About This Business

Kid Cudi has had an interesting year. After dropping one of the most highly acclaimed albums of the year, he has recently been in the headlines for a few reasons not related to music. First, he punched a fan for throwing something at the stage and then he was arrested for what has been reported as a case of mistaken identity. Now, a video has surfaced of Cudi speaking to fans about his frustration with the industry.

"They trying to make me look like the poster boy for violence and ignorance," he says in the video. "I tell motherfuckers I'm the poster boy for honesty, realness, anarchy, I don't give a fuck about this business."

He also added that he is fed up with others who take shots at him.

"I never talk shit, right? You never hear me talking shit on skits, never hear me talking shit before on my songs. I just rap, right? Because of my silence, niggas trying to take jabs at me. Well, guess what, nigga? I'm jabbing back."

He continued with angst towards the business by adding that some of his favorite emcees have let him down.

"I'm the truest motherfucker in this business and people trying to destroy me. All these other niggas that y'all probably fans of is sucka ass niggas, I met them. Niggas I was a fan of when I was buying their CDs, I'm not a fan of they music no more. This business is WWF, fam and if you don't comply, they try to destroy you. I say it's cool, cause I got y'all, right?"

After a crowd of fans led "Cudi" chants, he continued.

"I never talk shit. I came to this game and I just wanted to smoke my weed and motherfuckers just trying to destroy me, man. But, I don't give a fuck. I'm unstoppable."
