For his most recent movie role, 50 Cent went to extreme lengths to play the part.
In his upcoming movie, Things Fall Apart, 50 plays a football player diagnosed with cancer, reports ThisIs50.com.
In order to look the part, he dropped from 214 lbs to 160 with the help of a liquid diet and a three-hour-a-day treadmill walk for nine weeks.
"I was starving," said 50, who is currently on tour. "I've been eating. I'll be back in shape in no time!"
Other actors have been known for losing and gaining significant weight for their roles. One notable example is Christian Bale, who dropped to 120 lbs for 2004's The Machinist, and gained over 100 lbs for the titular role in Batman Begins.

by Rashad Phillips

After originally being sentenced to three years for striking a fellow clubgoer with a bottle of rum in 2008, Da Brat is out on work release. The first female rapper to have a certified platinum-selling album (1994’s Funkdafied), made a cameo on the latest installment of Jermaine Dupri’s “Living The Live” viral video series.

“I’m out on a little pass; I had to do some lawyer attorney stuff,” Brat explained. “Thank y’all for the love and support. I got a job. I work a nine-to-five, because I’m in the work release program. I make windows. If y’all need a window holla at your girl.”
Brat joked that in addition to her newly acquired trade of window making, she would look to continue pursuing new acting and musical projects saying, “Too much grass done grew up when I ain’t done nothing.” Prior to the 2007 incident that led to her incarceration, Da Brat appeared in half–a-dozen films and was also a cast member of the VH-1 Reality show “The Surreal Life.” Her last studio album was 2003’s, Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz. Per the terms of her sentencing, Brat must also complete seven years of probation and 200 hours of community service.

Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 5/23/2010

Hopeful for a #1 debut, Damian Marley & Nas' Distant Relatives project began its run on the charts at #4. The Universal Republic/Def Jam Records collaborative release fell behind The Black Keys, Justin Bieber and a new addition of Glee music. The Africa-inspired project did clear 50,000 units, with its rich commentary on the parallel relationship between Hip Hop and Reggae. Lil Wayne, K'Naan, Dennis Brown and Joss Stone appear on the work produced by Damian and brother Stephen.
The other major debut was the anticipated reunion album of Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek as Reflection Eternal. A decade after their acclaimed and commercially successful Rawkus Records debut, Train of Thought, Revolutions Per Minute has been met with a new dose of rave reviews, as the duo finds themselves on Warner Brothers/Asylum Records. With co-executive production by Sha Money XL, R.P.M. features appearances from Bun B, J. Cole, Mos Def and Jay Electronica, among an assortment of Pop/R&B appearances. The album debuted at #17, moving over 20,000 first-week units.
As usual of late, Usher's Raymond v. Raymond maintained its #7 place. B.o.B. Presents The Adventures of Bobby Ray also held at #13, as the Rebel Rock sensation has the strongest commercial debut in Rap thus far in 2010. Another genre-bending Georgia talent, DXnext alum, Janelle Monae's sophomore album, The Archandroid debuted at #16. With strong cosigns from both Big Boi and Diddy, the Bad Boy/Atlantic Records starlet furthers her ascent to the mainstream.

Ludacris fell to #30 with Battle of the Sexes. The DTP/Def Jam album remains the imprint's most successful 2010 album to date, and carries itself towards a gold plaque, possibly due by mid-summer. Trina's Pop-inspired album, Amazin' sits on the cusp of 50,000 units sold. The Diamond Princess' independent release boasts backing by EMI Records, similar to releases by Raekwon and Twista last year.

Another Warner Rap release, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's Uni5: The World's Enemy slipped to #82. The radio-friendly album features a reunited cast of Bone brothers, who have shot an assortment of videos to support the DJ U-Neek-produced effort.

Once kin to the same Ruthless Records family that spawned Bone Thugs, 8Ball & MJG remained in the Top 100 with Ten Toes Down. Distributed through E1 Entertainment, the Grand Hustle project is executive produced by T.I., and features an extensive guest-list of contemporaries and newer artists influenced by the Memphis mainstays.

Another comeback act, Cypress Hill, may be bidding the Top 200 farewell, with their Rise Up. The Priority Records release features production by Pete Rock and Alchemist, as well as high-profile appearances from Tom Morello and Pitbull. The reunion of B-Real, Sen Dog and DJ Muggs has yet to pass the 40,000 mark, though it remains close.

In an interview that was featured on France’s SkyRock radio Dr. Dre and Interscope’s Jimmy Iovine explained that Dr. Dre’s Detox single featuring Jay-Z, “Under Pressure,” was delayed because of the release of Eminem’s latest single “Not Afraid.”

HipHop-N-More.com reports that in the interview Dr. Dre and Iovine explained that Eminem’s single wasn’t planned to drop first and as a result the release of “Under Pressure” was delayed.
While “Under Pressure” may still be released as a single another track may now be released before “Under Pressure.” A release may come some time this summer.
In other Detox news Scott Storch, the producer behind the “Under Pressure” track, recently revealed that although many are skeptical about Detox’s release the album is still scheduled to be released this year. In Storch’s interview with DJ Skee he also explained that Detox is only three tracks away from completion.
A set release for Detox has yet to be announced.

Lil Jon Teams With Miley Cyrus On 'Can't Be Tamed' Remix

Lil Jon Teams With Miley Cyrus On 'Can't Be Tamed' Remix

Monday, May 24, 2010 9:35 AM

By Roman Wolfe

(AllHipHop News) Atlanta rapper/producer Lil Jon is returning to the scene with a new album, along with a high profile collaboration with pop star Miley Cyrus.
Lil Jon teamed with Miley Circus to remix her new single “Can’t Be Tamed.” According to reports, they recorded the song at Rock Mafia recording studio in Santa Monica, California.
Miley Cyrus told her fans the remix was “rockin,” while Lil Jon told E! Online: "It's crazy, it's crazy. I think everybody's gonna really enjoy the song."

“Can’t Be Tamed” is Miley Cyrus’ first single from the album of the same title, which is due in stores in the United States on June 22.

In addition to the collaboration with Miley Cyrus, Lil Jon is preparing to release his long-delayed album Crunk Rock, which is due in stores on June 8th.

His musical ventures are not the only thing the producer/rapper relies on to earn the $11 million dollars he grosses annually.
In addition to rapping and producing, Lil Jon owns the Crunk! Energy drink, a wine distributor and a line of sunglasses.
“I want to have something to fall back on, so that’s a reason you create these different business ventures, I don’t want to rap forever,” Lil Jon told Daily Finance. “The products start to really take off when I have an album out because I’m on TV more. Definitely [the non-music revenues] will come up a little more in this album cycle. Who knows, maybe it will get to 50-50.”

Lil Kim Throws Up The Roc, Signs With Jay-Z's Roc Nation

News: Lil Kim Throws Up The Roc, Signs With Jay-Z's Roc Nation

Sunday, May 23, 2010 6:00AM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

New York rapper Lil Kim has reportedly signed a deal to join Jay-Z's management company, Roc Nation.
According to reports, Jay will also help executive produce her Roc Nation debut.

Brooklyn's female rapper and actress Lil Kim has officially signed a record deal with Jay-Z label Roc Nation. This rumor has been floating around for a while, but earlier today, industry insiders confirmed this rumor. A major announcement should be made soon. As of press, no word on when Kim's new album will be dropping. The big homie Jay-Z is expected to be executive producing Kim's new album. Roc Nation is an entertainment, management, and music publishing company, founded in 2008 by Jay-Z. In 2009, Kanye West became the CEO. (Hip Hop Beef)

Music blogger Perez Hilton has also confirmed the new signing.

Although she's seen better days, Lil Kim is ready to make a musical comeback! The rapper officially signed a record deal with Roc Nation. Jay-Z is even expected to produce her next album. Inneresting. (Perez Hilton)

Last July, Kim spoke on putting together her new album.

"Album should be out in a few months," Kim said in an interview at the pre-BET Awards show last weekend. "We don't have a set date yet but the song 'Download' is featuring T-Pain and Charlie Wilson is doing very well and I'm excited about that 'cause it's been a long time since I made my rounds. But I got another song that's with a producer named Detail, he's a Konvict Music producer and I love this song. I can't tell y'all the name yet 'cause it might be the next single but just know that this album, I'm feeling real sexy and nasty y'all, so it's gonna be an upgrade of Hardcore." (EZ Street Show)

She previously said the project was put on hold due to her participation on "Dancing With The Stars" last spring.
"Never, music is in my heart and that's the reason I'm on 'Dancing With The Stars' because I've always felt music," Kim said about abandoning music. "Right after 'Dancing With The Stars' [new album is coming.] My schedule is so crazy with 'Dancing With The Stars.' We rehearse six to eight times, from eight hours a day, so it's like, I do have time on the weekends to go into the studio and when I do, I do a little bit. I have a song out right now with T-Pain...I'm about to do a mixtape with my people, it's gonna be called Lil Kim: Family & Friends...And I'm paying for the music videos." (The Q Deezy Show)

No further details have been revealed as of now.
