Sean Garrett Talks Of Inking Deal With Young Money, Speaks On Nicki Minaj

Sean Garrett Talks Of Inking Deal With Young Money, Speaks On Nicki Minaj
February 27, 2010 12:02:00 PM CST | by Krysten Hughes

Singer slash songwriter Sean Garrett may become the next addition to Lil Wayne's Young Money Millionaire's crew. In an interview with Rap-Up.com, he said “I’m really, really happy about what’s going on with me right now and I’m happy about my team. I’m definitely happy about my new venture.”

One aspect of Garretts's new venture includes teaming up with Lil Wayne's protégé, Nicki Minaj, for his latest single "Get It All" [listen], which was featured on his mixtape, The Pen: Vol 1, and will also appear on his forthcoming untitled LP, which is slated to drop this summer. Lil Wayne also has a spot on the new album, appearing on the second single.

When asked whether or not he will be inking a deal with Wayne's label, he replied “It’s in the sky. You just look up and watch the stars line up," he added, “We’re in negotiations right now. It’s almost done.”

This is not the first time the Atlanta resident alluded to inking a new deal since leaving Interscope Records. Last week in an interview with MTV, he said "You know I had to go through a few political situations to get my album where I wanted it to be, and to get the situation where I wanted it to be," he added, "Finally it's coming together in the right way. I got a lot of my friends that's endorsing me: Lil Wayne, my man Drake, [Nicki] Minaj.”

He also spoke to MTV about working with Young Money's first lady. "I'm really, really excited about Nicki because I think that what Nicki has understood is that she can do whatever she wants to do. She's a dreamer just like myself," he added, "She's taken her image to a whole other level with the whole Barbie thing. And I think she's very imaginative and her music's great and she's not scared of nothing. She's fearless. As long as you're fearless in life you can do anything."

Sean Garrett, who was dubbed "The Pen" by Jay-Z, penned hit singles for artists like Usher, Chris Brown, Beyonce, and Ciara. He has also been featured on singles with Ludacris, Keri Hilson, and Gucci Mane, showing off his vocals. His 2008 debut album, Turbo 919, was only released in Japan, making his latest LP a U.S. debut.

An official announcement is expected to be made within coming weeks on his website iamthepen.com about his new deal.

50 Cent Associate Accused of Assault & Rumored Arson

50 Cent Associate Accused of Assault & Rumored Arson
February 26, 2010 04:02:00 PM CST | by Andres Tardio

On Thursday, February 25, Shana Chin testified against an associate of 50 Cent named Dwayne McKenzie. Chin, in saying she was assaulted while visiting McKenzie at Fif's Long Island mansion, also added that McKenzie repeatedly made comments about setting 50's former girlfriend's house on fire, according to Republican American.

Chin's statements may bring up a familiar case for 50. In 2008, his estate was the center of controversy after a suspicious fire was set, sending 50's former girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins and their son to the hospital.

50 Cent has not issued a statement on the matter yet.

Bun B Moves From Asylum To Universal, Still With Rap-A-Lot

Bun B Moves From Asylum To Universal, Still With Rap-A-Lot
February 27, 2010 11:02:00 AM CST | by Jake Paine

Friday, XXLMag.com reported that Port Arthur, Texas veteran emcee and one-half of UGK Bun B was leaving Warner/Asylum Records to head to Universal for his forthcoming Trill O.G. album. "I work better in the small system. When you’re in the big system it’s really about breaking you and exposing you and I think I’ve been able to build a career as far as just associating myself," Bun told XXLMag.com

Yesterday evening, HipHopDX contacted reps at Warner/Asylum Records to see if Rap-A-Lot Records had moved their entire distribution to Universal/Fontana, or was it Bun. Although the reps were unable to confirm at present, they did state that Bun B will remain with Rap-A-Lot Records despite the move. Rap-A-Lot Records is planning 25th Anniversary re-releases of classic albums and songs, producer Mike Dean recently revealed to DX. Previously, the label has been distributed by Virgin, Priority Records and Warner Brothers. If J Prince's label is indeed headed to Fontana, it will be their first venture with Universal.

Although UGK was signed to the New York-based Jive/Zomba Records throughout their 17 year-career of releasing music, both Bun and the late Pimp C were signed to J. Prince's historic Houston label. There, Bun has released both Trill and II Trill, finding both critical and commercial success. Asylum Records distributed both projects.

Last year, Asylum merged with Warner Brothers Records, making artists like Cam'ron, Mike Jones and Talib Kweli all label-mates. Asylum is presently planning upcoming releases with Reflection Eternal and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

The move to Fontana places Bun B in the same distribution channel as Killer Mike, DJ Quik and Kurupt. Trill O.G. is still planned for spring release, and reportedly boasts appearances with Drake as well as production from Pharrell Williams and DJ Premier.

Read the entirety of Bun's interview with XXLMag.com here, as he explains his reasons for the leave, and what he's still recording prior to release.

E-40, Too Short, Brotha Lynch Hung, Spice 1, All To Release Spring Albums

E-40, Too Short, Brotha Lynch Hung, Spice 1, All To Release Spring Albums
February 27, 2010 10:02:00 AM CST | by Salima Koroma

The Bay Area's own Hip Hop ambassador, E-40 announced earlier this month that he plans to release two separate albums on the same day. Titled Revenue Retrievin' The Day Shift and Revenue Retrievin' The Night Shift, the pair will make up his 11th and 12th full-length albums respectively.

E-40 took a small hiatus after releasing The Ball Street Journal in 2008, and will work with independent label Heavy On The Grind Entertainment to release his upcoming albums. Mistah Fab, Clyde Carson, Gucci Mane, and Messy Marv are just a few names who will appear on the project.

Revenue Retrievin' The Day Shift and Revenue Retrievin' The Night Shift are expected to hit shelves on Mar. 30.

East Oakland Rap veteran Too Short, who will also feature on one of E-40's thirty-eight tracks, recently announced that his upcoming studio album Still Blowin' will see an April 6 release. The project will be added to Short's impressive list of 18 other albums, six of which went platinum or higher. It will be the first full-length LP released on his independent label Dangerous Music, and will feature Cash Money's Baby, Lil Jon, Jazze Pha, and others.

Still Blowin' will be a full digital release.

Sacramento emcee Brotha Lynch Hung is also coming off of a long hiatus with his newest album, Dinner and A Movie. The project will be his first since 2003's Lynch By Inch. It will also be the first of a conceptual trilogy that he will release in the fall.

Inspired by the Horror genre, the album presents Hung as possessing a split personality. He acts as an average man by day, and a rapper-killer by night, a none-too-inconspicuous ode to the Jekyll and Hyde complex. In addition, the rapper has teamed with director Dan Gedman to film several videos for the series.

"This is the first time this has ever been done," Gedman said in a statement. "We are visually bringing this character to life, and then Lynch is going to write the next two albums. It's an interactive process. Now he has to lyrically revisit the character and story, knowing what it all looks like."

The first installment of Hung's three-part series, Dinner and A Movie, will release under Tech N9ne's Strange Music label in March.

Additionally, Andre Nickatina's Khan: The Me Generation, Spice 1's Home Street Home and Richie Rich's Town Bidness are due, however details are sparse on all three at this point. HipHopDX will keep you updated.

Juvenile Arrested Following Possession Of Marijuana

Juvenile Arrested Following Possession Of Marijuana
February 26, 2010 02:02:00 PM CST | by Danielle Harling

New Orleans’ WDSU news has reported that rapper Juvenile was arrested on Thursday, February 25 after the rapper claimed that marijuana found by police in a home he was recording in was his.

Police were initially called to the home after neighbors complained of smelling marijuana. When police arrived Juvenile’s producer, Leroy Edwards, answered the door and police said upon opening the door there was a huge cloud of smoke.

Edwards was then handcuffed and a small amount of marijuana was found on him. When Edwards wouldn’t answer officer’s questions a warrant was attained allowing the officers to search the house.

Once inside, the officers claimed they found half an ounce of marijuana. Juvenile told the officer’s that the marijuana they found was his and they then arrested both him and Edwards.

Juvenile and Edwards have both posted bail following the incident.

50 Cent Facing Lawsuit Due To Rick Ross-Related Sex Tape Leak

50 Cent Facing Lawsuit Due To Rick Ross-Related Sex Tape Leak
February 25, 2010 11:02:00 AM CST | by Danielle Harling

When rapper 50 Cent waged war against fellow rapper Rick Ross in early 2009 he tried a number of different tactics to win the feud, but it looks like he may be sued over one of them.

At one point during the rapper’s feud 50 Cent leaked a video of Rick Ross’ baby mother, Lastonia Leviston, in a sex tape. The video was then edited to include commentary by 50 Cent’s Pimpin’ Curly persona.

AllHipHop.com reports that Leviston is now suing 50 Cent for his use of the tape. Leviston claims she suffered “emotional distress” as a result of the video being leaked and that 50 Cent didn’t receive the proper permission to use the tape.

Leviston began her lawsuit this week by filing a complaint in a Manhattan court yesterday (February 24). It is unclear how much Leviston is asking for in her lawsuit.

Although Leviston is currently going through the process of filing a lawsuit, Rick Ross’ other baby mother Tia Kemp seemed to benefit greatly from Ross’ feud with 50 Cent.

During the feud last year Kemp was treated to a shopping spree courtesy of 50 Cent, released a tell-all book, and was even featured on the cover of Smooth Magazine.

Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 2/21/2010

Sade defended her #1 turf for a second straight week with Soldier Of Love. With more television appearances coming, the veteran Jazz/Soul vocalists is enjoying a comeback after nearly a decade hiatus. Her Epic Records project is also a celebrated success to the label who's biggest enjoyment last year was a posthumous Michael Jackson compilation. The 51 year-old Nigerian-born singer also owned her spot by a margin of nearly 50,000 units.

The Black Eyed Peas have impressed the charts for close to nine months. Still, the group's return to #3 suggests that their June of 2009 Interscope Records release The E.N.D. isn't anywhere close to losing momentum. Already at double platinum, a new video "Imma Be Rocking That Body," has will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo and Apl.De.Ap staying as close to the top of the charts as they've been in months. Later this year, will.i.am and his label are going to be releasing Kelis' first album since her highly-publicized split with Nas.

Lil Wayne's Rebirth may reach gold before the New Orleans-born super-star sees jail-time. The Cash Money/Universal Motown release remains in the Top 5, as Wayne suggests that a video will surface within a month of his collaboration with Eminem for "Drop The World" . With radio support for that as a single, Rebirth could have platinum potential.

Two R&B acts closed out the Top 10 last week. Alicia Keys' Element Of Freedom readies for a new single and perhaps more traction while Jaheim's Another Round heads towards 200,000 units. The 31 year-old New Jersey native's album features Jadakiss on the "Ain't Leavin' Without You (Remix)" from his fifth album.

Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 and Eminem's Relapse both remained in the Top 50 for another week. Jay-Z already began speaking about his next album, reportedly his first with Sony Records, last week.

Freeway & Jake One's The Stimulus Package entered the charts at #61. Free's first "official" independent album, this on the Minneapolis-based Rhymesayers label was supported with a whole album's worth of production from Seattle's most prolific producer, Jake One. The album features guest appearances from Beanie Sigel, Young Chris, Raekwon and Freeway's latest label employer, Birdman.

Gold Dust/K7 Records released a compilation of largely recycled and alternate tracks from various Wu-Tang Clan members. All produced by longtime Method Man deejay and "Mighty Healthy" producer Mathematics, Return of the Wu & Friends was a notable appearance from the label home to Zion I, Soul Asssasins and Crown City Rockers. The compilation, which includes rare work from Ol' Dirty Bastard, scanned nearly 3,500 first week units on the indie.

New Orleans Funk/Jazz outfit Galactic's eighth album Ya Ka May fell 48 spots to close out the Top 200. The Anti Records group told DX that they are soon to be at work on a full length album with former Jurassic 5 emcee Chali 2na.

Yung Berg Pistol Whipped, Robbed In Los Angeles

Yung Berg Pistol Whipped, Robbed In Los Angeles
February 24, 2010 01:02:00 PM CST | by Allen Jacobs

Epic/E1 Records rapper Yung Berg is not new to robbery and altercation. The Chicago-born rapper who began his career as an artist on DMX's Bloodline Records was victim to a highly-publicized attacking in Detroit in 2008 that involved rapper Trick Trick. That incident left Berg with his jewelry stolen, and began a series of online postings taunting the then-21 year-old entertainer. Later that year, rapper Maino also "slapped" Berg at a New York event and told the press, he let Berg "keep his chain."

That was not the case this past weekend, says Los Angeles police officials. TMZ.com reports that during a party at a gathering in a Los Angeles' historic Mulholland Drive, four men trespassed at 2am Monday morning (February 22). After waving pistols, the assailants pistol-whipped two of the party-goers, one of which was Berg, and split with a reported $10,000 in cash and jewels.

At the time of TMZ's story, Berg's reps state that the rapper was in Las Vegas during the weekend. That rep said they had heard nothing about Monday's incident.

The Los Angeles Times claims the house of the robbery to be owned by a "Rap record label," though the specifics have yet to be confirmed.

UPDATE: Yung Berg just posted this video:

He said the following, reportedly from Las Vegas. "So basically there is a story on TMZ or whatever. Thanks for the free promo and publicity right now. It’s just not the right publicity. I wish y'all was talking about the album or mixtape. I am fine. I’m straight. I’m still gorgeous. I love you mom, Thanks for these good genes."

It was unclear whether or not Berg was confirming or denying the reports. After giving fans his status, he said the following. "Stop paying attention to bullshit. It ain't about nothing. It gets you nowhere."

Musically, Berg focused on mixtapes in 2009. His last album was 2008's Look What You Made Me, which debuted in the Top 25 of the charts.

Z-Ro Faces Drug Possession Charge

Z-Ro Faces Drug Possession Charge
Tuesday, February 23, 2010 9:47 AM
By Ismael AbduSalaam

(AllHipHop News) Texas lyricist Z-Ro will be in court on March 1 to answer a felony drug possession charge from last year.

Z-Ro, real name Joseph Wayne McVey, was arrested in February 2009 when authorities found him with a codeine mixture weighing over 28 grams.

The rapper’s attorney Robert Jones has proclaimed his client innocent, claiming the codeine bottle was a prescription cough syrup medicine assigned to another party.

"Right now, the penalty has been enhanced, so I would have to look that up to see what exactly that is, but I anticipate that he is going to trial because he didn't do anything, so the penalty is zero," Jones explained to the Houston Press blog Hair Balls. “They're trying to ramp up the charges and make him scared so he'll take something. It is nothing more than a form of intimidation. It doesn't change the facts of the case at all."

Z-Ro has released 13 solo albums since 1998. Some of his critically-acclaimed LPs, such as 2006’s I’m Still Livin’, were released while the rapper was incarcerated.

Last year, Z-Ro was found not guilty for misdemeanor marijuana possession. In 2003, Z-Ro served time for a codeine conviction that violated his parole.

Citing his music and industry colleagues, Jones believes his client is telling the truth and would have been ready to face any consequences if he were guilty.

“Everybody who knows his music has told me that he is a purist. And he's just an honest, forthright person. If he did it, he'll say he did it,” Jones stated.

Z-Ro’s latest studio album is 2009’s Cocaine, which featured appearances from Gucci Mane, Lil Flip, Mike D, and Big Pokey.

Shyne Reportedly Signs Seven-Figure Deal With Def Jam

Shyne Reportedly Signs Seven-Figure Deal With Def Jam
February 23, 2010 04:02:00 PM CST | by Slava Kuperstein

According to HOT97 radio personality Miss Info's webpage, multiple sources have confirmed that until-recently incarcerated rapper Shyne has signed a seven-figure deal with Def Jam.

After being deported to his homeland of Belize in October, a bidding war began for the rapper's services. Reportedly, Shyne turned down an offer from Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre at Interscope, in addition to others, in favor of teaming back up with L.A. Reid at Def Jam.

Miss Info also reported that Shyne has reportedly been working with Kyambo "HipHop" Joshua, who with Gee Roberson, also manages Lil Wayne, Drake, Young Jeezy, and other artists.

Island Def Jam Chairman Antonio "L.A." Reid flew into Belize's Phillip Goldson International Airport at 4:20 p.m. February 23 to personally sign Shyne to a multi-million dollar contract. The deal, reported to be worth upwards of $5 million, will bring the former Bad Boy emcee and his Gangland Records imprint back to Def Jam.

A previous deal with Shyne and Def Jam was stalled in 2004 due to complications with Shyne's legal documentation and a twisted interpretation of the federal "Son of Sam Law" which was originally created to keep felons from profiting from their crimes.

"I am here because great people are worthy of travelling many many miles for it and I come here to say that your country is great..." Reid told Keith Swift of News 7 Belize. "I hope you guys know that this is a great man from your country who deserves this kind of respect and who deserves this kind of support."

After being deported earlier this year, Shyne appears to have cleared all legal hurdles preventing him from recording again.

"It is an honour and a pleasure, not just for me but for Belize," the rapper noted. "Chairman Reid is on the level of Berry Gordy, Clive Davis, the biggest music men in the history of music, and so to have a partnership with Gangland Records and Island/Def Jam is incredible for me."

Chamillionaire and Paul Wall have had a tumultuous relationship, one that has been filled with ups and downs over the years. After becoming rhyming partners, they were a staple in the independent album circuit, releasing such underground classics as Get Ya Mind Correct.

KRS-One & DJ Premier To Release "Return Of The Boom Bip" Album

KRS-One & DJ Premier To Release "Return Of The Boom Bip" Album
February 22, 2010 10:02:00 AM CST | by Jake Paine

In 1993, after five studio albums under the name of Boogie Down Productions, KRS-One released the first album under his solo name, Return of the Boom Bap. Released on Jive Records, the album debuted at #37 on the charts, and prompted hits like the Showbiz-produced "Sound Of Da Police" and the DJ Premier-produced "Outta Here." The Gang Starr beat-king produced seven of the album's 14 tracks, as its remembered as one of The Teacha's finest solo offerings.

Over 16 years later, DJ Premier and KRS-One are said to be at work at Return of the Boom Bip. The album, reportedly coming on Premier's Year Round Records, may serve as a sequel. During NBA All-Star Weekend, Premier spoke to 944 Magazine about the underway recordings.

"It's going to be one of the illest albums of 2010," said the legendary producer. Q-Tip, Grand Puba and Ice-T are already confirmed guests on the album. HipHopDX will keep you updated of more as it happens. The two last worked together on "Classic" with Kanye West, Rakim and Nas for a Nike campaign, and an update of "Criminal Minded" for a similar beverage caompaign.

In related news, DJ Premier is presently working on albums with MC Eiht, NYGz, Big Shug and Nick Javas. Last year, KRS-One did a collaboration album with Black Moon's Buckshot called Survival Skills.

Lil Wayne Gets Eight Root Canals

Lil Wayne Gets Eight Root Canals
February 22, 2010 09:02:00 AM CST | by Slava Kuperstein

Those considering purchasing a grill beware - Lil Wayne reportedly underwent major dental work that included eight root canals in one sitting.

According to TMZ.com, Wayne took part in an eight-hour procedure that included work on his grill, numerous tooth implants redone (and some implants added), "and had the few real teeth he had left repaired."

In light of the dental surgery, Wayne's prison sentence for criminal weapons possession was postponed from February 25 to March 2.

In 2008, Wayne missed a court date due similar dental issues.

Drake On Kanye West's "Good A** Job" LP

News: Drake On Kanye West's "Good A** Job" LP, "It's Going To Be One Of The Best Hip-Hop Albums In The Past 10 Years"

Young Money's Drake has vouched for Kanye West's upcoming Good A** Job album and said it would be the decade's top hip-hop release.

According to Drake, Ye is also working on debut album, Thank Me Later.

The Canadian rapper-singer revealed to GQ magazine that he has been in Hawaii laying down tracks for both his and Mr. West's albums. When asked how they divide time between the two projects, Drake joked, "More like we work on his album until he gets tired." Little is known about West's fifth studio effort, but the Young Money star offered his inside take. "His album is going to be one of the best hip-hop albums in the last 10 years," he declared. (Rap-Up)
Writing through his popular Twitter page, G.O.O.D. Music's Big Sean publicly announced Ye's next LP title.

"Up n at em!!! Time to go to Hawaii! To work on the best 2 albums of all time. Mne "Finally Famous" n Kanye's graduation!," Sean wrote mistakingly Sunday (February 14) morning. "I mean "Good ass Job" not Graduation. I was sleepy as h*ll when tweeted that sh*t! Happy Valentines Day! Everybody be safe... N Don't break my aching heart! Show me love back! I'm off to Hawaii... Luv y'all!" (Big Sean's Twitter)
Last month, Ye wrote in his popular daily blog about returning to the studio.

"FIRST OF ALL, I WANT TO THANK EVERYBODY FOR THEIR CONSTANT LOVE AND SUPPORT OVER THESE PAST 6 YEARS!," he wrote Saturday (January 2). "I'M SO HAPPY TO BE BACK IN THE STUDIO MAKING NEW MUSIC. I WILL BRING YOU THE BEST I HAVE TO OFFER WITH THE SAME DEDICATION THAT KOBE HAS ON THE COURT. IT'S FUNNY HOW SO MANY RAPPERS GET WORSE AS THEIR CAREERS STRETCH OUT BUT TRUE POETS GET BETTER." (Kanye West's Blog)
He was also vocal in discussing his absence from hip-hop during a Kid Cudi concert last month.

"I had to get up out this motherf*cker for a second," Ye told the crowd. "I love the game so much and I'm so passionate about it that I just can't take this sh*t sometimes. And if they take everything away from me it wouldn't f*cking matter. Artists be too concerned about their well-being sometimes. Artists be too scared to stand up for something. They scared to lose they f*cking house or they scared to lose their record deal. I sold my soul to the devil, I know it's a crappy deal/At least it came with a few toys like a Happy Meal." Raekwon Awaits New Wu-Tang Clan Album, "We Have To Do It, It's A Job"

News: Raekwon Awaits New Wu-Tang Clan Album, "We Have To Do It, It's A Job"
Saturday, Feb 20, 2010 11:12AM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Rap veteran Raekwon recently opened up about his thoughts of a new Wu-Tang Clan album and why despite his own projects coming out, the crew will drop a full-length disc in the future.

Although he can not predict when a new Wu album will drop, the "Chef" said fans should rest assured it is coming.

"I mean, in my eyes there's always going to be another Wu album," he said in an interview. "Whether you hear me come out with another album or whether you hear any one of the Clan members, we're always going to involve everybody. When I look at Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Part II, I look at that as a Wu album. You feel me? Even though it was my brand and my thing that I done, I had my dudes on it. The first one was like that too, a Wu album. As far as doing another [full Wu-Tang album], we don't know when it's going to come yet. But it'll come. We have to do it. It's a job. I can't call exactly when. But you got this Wu Massacre about to come. You got the Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, which is my next album that's coming. These are all avenues to incorporate the W at a high level right now." (Entertainment Weekly)
A new Wu project would mark the crew's latest effort since 2007's 8 Diagrams.

In early 2007, in anticipation for the Clan's upcoming album, 8 Diagrams, Nature Sounds issued the Mathematics-compiled Unreleased, a collection of new remixes and hard to find, previously unreleased songs from the group and some of its friends. It wasn't until the end of the year, however -- after a couple of delays and some criticism from Raekwon and Ghostface directed at RZA regarding the overall sound of the record -- that 8 Diagrams. Last month, the rapper broke his silence on a big announcement he had in store for 2010.

"O I forgot my announcement on jan 1st to give yall so ima tell ya now! "I WILL BE DROPPIN 2 ALBUMS THIS YEAR!" Rt this crack....," he wrote over the weekend. "@ghanie nah solo records@agthekid ill deliver trust me!" (Raekwon's Twitter)
Outside of retail releases, Rae is scheduled to perform at this spring's Paid Dues festival in California.

Paid Dues 2010: Ice Cube, Murs & 9th Wonder, Tech N9ne & Raekwon, Tha Dogg Pound, Jay Electronica, Dilated Peoples, Psycho Realm & Necro, People Under The Stairs, Freeway & Jake One, Random Axe, R.A. The Rugged Man, Strong Arm Steady and more. Hosted by radio personality Angela Yee, DJ Wonder, and others, the Paid Dues Independent Hip Hop Festival will take place in San Bernadino, California on April 3, 2010. (Guerilla Union)

Jay-Z Talks New Videos And Possibility Of A New Album

Jay-Z Talks New Videos And Possibility Of A New Album
February 20, 2010 12:02:00 PM CST | by Krysten Hughes

While at the NBA All-Star Game in Dallas, rapper Jay-Z talked to MTV about his upcoming plans to shoot more music videos for Blueprint 3 and the possibility of a new album.

"I wanna shoot 'Venus vs. Mars'. I may shoot two. I shot 'Run This Town' [and 'D.O.A. (Death of Auto Tune)']. I been shooting two at the same time. I'll probably shoot 'Venus' and maybe 'A Star Is Born.' But I definitely wanna shoot 'Venus'. I got an amazing concept in my mind."

Jay also talked about "Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)" with Rihanna and members of U2 performed for the "Hope For Haiti Now" telethon. "The number is ridiculous as far as the [money generated by the Hope For Haiti Now] album. I'm excited about the whole effort we put into the telethon. It's helping real people through a real tough time, and we'll just move on from there."

Blueprint 3 will not be his last album. Jay is already talking about ideas and tracks for a new album. "I didn't really start yet. I got a couple of scraps and I got a couple of ideas. I didn't really go into the studio yet. I've been toying with ideas and direction and things like that", he added, "I got one crazy record. To be honest with you, it's crazy. I got one and we'll build from there. Whether it comes out this year or next year, it depends on the music and how it's coming out. I don't really have any dates."
