Ego trip's contributions to rap culture have spanned over fifteen years. Planting its roots in the early '90s with its underground Hip Hop magazine, the entity would eventually bring audiences television shows like "The (White) Rapper Show," and the cultural commentary special "ego trip's Race-O-Rama." Now, ego trip will host a monthly Hip Hop documentary film screening series in New York's Maysles Institute.

The first showing of the event "Under The Influence of ego trip" will feature two films: 80 Blocks From Tiffany's and Shotgun, both filmed in the early 1980s. Following the films will be a panel discussion with the films' respective directors Gary Weis and Ponce Laspina.

On Feb. 25, ego trip will screen films Electric Boogie and Beat This!: A Hip Hop History while the Mar. 25 screening will feature Public Enemy and LL Cool J Live in Europe and Big Fun In The Big Town.
