Canadian rapper Drake had quite the year in 2009, his mixtape So Far Gone was a tremendous success and now a top magazine has named Drake 2009’s “Rapper Of The Year.”
Spin Magazine reveals that Drake is their “Rapper Of The Year” in their January/February 2010 issue.
“Being the new guy in the game is hard,” Drake told Spin. “People don’t want to accept the fact that there could be another artist on a Jay-Z level, on a Kanye level. No matter what I do on this album, no matter if I rap ten, 20, 30 times better than on So Far Gone, people are still gonna be like, ‘This isn’t as good as his last shit. We’re over it.’”
In other Hip Hop news, KRS-One and producer True Master have revealed, via a video promo, that they will be working together on a new album entitled Meta Historical.
The video promo simply revealed that the album will be “coming soon.”
Rapper Kurupt also revealed some interesting news via video as well this month.
In a video posted on YouTube, Kurupt speaks on an upcoming reunion album with Hip Hop group Four Horsemen.
“It’s Horsemen time. Me and M-Eighty is putting this plan together,” Kurupt explained. “You understand me? To do this right. We’re gonna rack up Cani, Ras, Priest. We gonna put together one of the best albums you can hear possibly to this day. It’s definitely gonna be one of the best. Definitely gonna be one of the best Horsemen projects we have ever done.”
No other details on the project have been revealed.
