A basement fire at the Lower Manhattan courthouse where Lil Wayne's sentencing was scheduled to take place today has postponed the Grammy Award winning emcee's expected prison bid for a second time. Lil Wayne was scheduled to be sentenced to a one-year prison term today after he pleaded guilty to charges of criminal possession of a weapon in October of 2009. According to courts spokesman David Bookstaver, the sentencing was among proceedings canceled due a basement fire at a Lower Manhattan courthouse.

Wayne was originally scheduled to be sentenced on February 9, but he was granted a postponement in order to have oral surgery. During the three week postponement, the rapper underwent the eight-hour dental procedure and also filmed upwards of eight music videos, as well as another documentary with DJ Scoob Doo.

At press time, no date has been set to reschedule the sentencing. HipHopDX will provide more updates as they become available.
