'Tha Carter IV' Gets Release Date; Lil Wayne Predictions For US Open

'Tha Carter IV' Gets Release Date; Lil Wayne Predictions For US Open

Saturday, August 28, 2010 12:30 PM

By Mike Winslow

Lil Wayne has set a release date for the fourth installment of his series of albums, Tha Carter.

Young Money's President Mack Maine told MTV that Tha Carter IV is due in stores the same day he is released from Rikers Island, where he has been incarcerated since March, for attempted possession of a weapon.

"Tha Carter IV plans we had and still have are to put Tha Carter IV out the day he comes out," Mack Maine told MTV News. "He had so many songs for Tha Carter IV, we said let's just put these 10 songs out [on I Am Not a Human Being] and double-back for Tha Carter IV. He has more songs for Tha Carter IV that are still strong."

According to Mack Maine, a welcome home concert is also being planned for the day Lil Wayne is released from prison.

Despite his incarceration on Rikers Island, Lil Wayne has remained in the spotlight through various releases, in addition to a series of letters penned to fans and media outlets, with his opinions on popular sports issues.

This week, Lil Wayne wrote a hand written letter to Sports Illustrated with his prediction that Rafael Nadal will win the US Open.

"I'm a huge [Rafael] Nadal fan," Lil Wayne told Sports Illustrated. "I'm definitely rooting for him to get the Grand Slam and win the US Open. Nadal wins it all."

Lil Wayne also predicted Kim Clijsters would take the women's title.

Bun B Describes Relationship With 2Pac, Why Pharrell Tracks Did Not Make "Trill O.G."

Bun B Describes Relationship With 2Pac, Why Pharrell Tracks Did Not Make "Trill O.G."

by Jake Paine

posted August 19, 2010 at 8:33AM MST

Exclusive: The Trill O.G. says that Scarface helped make 'Pac a fan of UGK, and how his two "incredible" records with Pharrell might make more sense next time.

HipHopDX recently spoke with Bun B in New York's Universal Fontana offices. In part one, Bun explained how Rap-A-Lot Records' purchasing a studio allowed him more creative space. In the next segment, the UGK legend was asked about his relationship with 2Pac, honing the sound for Trill O.G., and getting the right personnel.

UGK and 2Pac were both rising stars of the early '90s. Both having a mutual alliance in Scarface, Bun B was asked if he ever met 2Pac, especially given the 'Pac verse on Trill O.G.'s "Right Now" . Bun explained, "We never did [cross paths], actually. It's funny you brought 'Face up, because 2Pac's introduction to UGK was by Scarface, during the recording of 'Smile.' 'Face gave 'Pac the [Ridin' Dirty] album, and 'Pac played the album." In the years following 2Pac's 1996 murder, Bun B would go on to work with his former Rap-A-Lot label-mates, The Outlawz. Bun appeared on "Big Ballin'" from the group's fourth album, Outlaw 4 Life: 2005 A.P. Through this association, Bun learned of his brief impact on 2Pac from his closest circle. "EDI from The Outlawz came home [from Texas in late 1996] and was like, 'Yo, I don't know who these cats is, I don't know where they from, what they do, - 'Face just gave me this album, but these cats talkin' 'bout what we talkin' 'bout, these cats gonna be down with us." Although 2Pac really enjoyed the recordings he heard from Bun and Pimp C, time would never allow anything greater. "Unfortunately, he passed away about two weeks later. We never got to meet him. But EDI was like, 'He definitely loved [UGK's] music."

The verse on "Right Now" comes from 2Pac's One Nation recordings with Snoop Dogg, The Outlawz and east coast veterans like Greg Nice and The Boot Camp Clik.

DX and Bun also spoke about the personnel changes withinTrill O.G., and how the esteemed emcee crafted an overall sound. "I've been very lucky to have built a lot of incredible relationships with some of the best people in the [music] business," began Bun. "I've also been lucky enough to have those who I haven't necessarily been able to have a personal connection with be fans and admirers of myself [sic]. The beautiful thing that's happening in the music industry right now is that people who could be charging hundreds of thousands of dollars for their contributions are taking their power and using it to help bring people up who they always felt should've had a better shot, or should've had a better look." With Trill O.G. being a largely independent release through Rap-A-Lot, high-profile collaborations with artists such as Drake, T-Pain or Gucci Mane would have been difficult to secure just a few years ago.

Bun continued, pointing to the eagerness and generosity he witnessed from some of Rap's top hit-makers. "During the process of recording [Trill O.G.], we sat with J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League - I recorded eight songs with these guys within three sessions. Whatever I wanted to rap to, 'Whatever you want, just take it.' The same thing with Play-N-Skillz." The Irving, Texas duo is perhaps best known from their Grammy Award-winning effort in Chamillionaire's "Ridin'" just three years ago. "[Throughout] all three Trill albums, Play-N-Skillz have brought everything. I mean, they've pulled out all the hard drives." Bun also revealed that he recorded three sessions with Florida's Cool & Dre, and completed two songs with The Neptunes' Pharrell Williams that he described as "incredible." Although the latter examples did not make the final cut, Bun B said there is good reason. "I think that the people we picked and the sound that we picked for this album was just what was needed for this album. When we go from this level to the next level, we start bringin' in the people like Pharrell and stuff like that, and it'll make a little bit more sense. But you don't want to shoot too big, too fast and bite off more than you can chew." With all three of the Trill albums received by fans and critics warmly, Bun declared, "I can't compromise something good in hopes of something great."

However, with Young Money's Drake a large presence on the album, Bun was also asked the same question he's got since Houston Rap's resurgence five years ago: based on his influence on today's stars, will his own base expand? "I think it's also possible based on the people involved with this album," Bun answered with a smile. Then again, he's answered that question since his solo career began in 2005. "At the same time, we've had Jay-Z on [Trill]. We had Lil Wayne on [II Trill]. So with this album having people like Drake and Trey Songz, who was also on [Trill], I mean, you always want to shoot for the stars. As long as I can make an impact with the people who got me here, I'm fine." Bun refuted the logic that it's worth disappointing 20,000 core fans for 10 new ones. "If I have to choose, I'm gonna keep the [20,000] happy, 'cause they've been there for 18 years."

Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne reportedly owes over $1 million in taxes to the Internal Revenue Service.

According to reports, a tax iien was filed against Wayne in early June.

Lil Wayne owes some serious cash money to the IRS, which filed a $1.13 million tax lien against the star last month, according to Florida court records. The IRS filed a $1,138,760 lien against Carter on June 3 in Dade County (Fla.) Circuit Court. According to the lien, which you can see here, he owes income taxes from 2004, 2005 and 2007. The address on the lien is the same office occupied by his One Family Foundation charity. (Detroit News)

Producer Bangladesh recently accused Cash Money Records co-owner Baby of withholding money from Wayne.

"This is why Manny Fresh don't f*ck with [Cash Money] because he never got any royalty money," he said in an interview. "That's why Baby can go around flaunting this cash, because that's everyone else's money... It's not even Wayne's fault. Wayne is not getting money. He is given money, he's not getting money. If Baby gets a million dollars he'll buy Wayne a Phantom, but that's in Cash Money's name. That 14-bedroom mansion isn't Wayne sh*t. That's why he have his own company, because he was trying to leave Cash Money and the only thing that would keep him there was [if they] gave him his own thing. But Baby still controls that. All those Young Money artists don't even know that they not getting royalty money." (VIBE)

Currently incarcerated on a gun conviction, Wayne released a letter to fans this week.

"So I've been writing and let me be the first to tell you that the lyrics that I'm writing are... well there's no word that I can think of that properly defines them. Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair. I listen to the radio sometimes, emphasis on sometimes, and I hear the new music. I like some. I applaud my Young Money family for what they're doing. As I'm not surprised. This is what we're supposed to do. Congrats to Drake and Nicki for all their recent success. Those 2 are going to have me retiring early. I love my team. Much love to Tez and Mack. I know that people are inquisitive of what I do all day, so here goes. I wake up around 11AM. Have some coffee. Call my kids, and my wonderful mother. I then shower up. Read fan mail. Have lunch. Back on the phone. Read a book or write some thoughts down. Have dinner. Phone. Pushups. Then I listen to ESPN on the radio. Read the bible, then sleep. That's my day." (Weezy Thanx You)

Despite serving a one-year jail sentence, Wayne could be out as early as November.

Lil Wayne is approximately halfway through his one-year jail sentence, which began March 8 when the superstar MC turned himself into authorities after reaching a plea deal. According to prison records accessed by MTV News, the rapper has a projected release date of November 4. Pending any violations or infractions for behavioral issues, the rapper is expected to see the light of day eight months after entering prison. (MTV)

Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne will reportedly shave off four months from his one-year jail sentence as new reports suggest he will depart Rikers Island this fall.

According to reports, Weezy F. Baby is set to come home by early November.

This week, Wayne released a letter to fans detailing his daily routine behind bars.

Drake recently shared his views about the impact Wayne's time away has had on Young Money.

"His approach with his artists is very trusting, very fearless, and because of that, we have been put out into the world like trying to make people love us for who we are on our own, without Wayne," Drake explained in an interview. "So with Wayne gone, its possible for me and her (Nicki Minaj) to still thrive. I think that's the best approach and I respect Wayne so much, because he urged us to be ourselves maybe in anticipation for the day that he's not here. So we can still be ourselves without him. I don't need Wayne to be Drake. I'm a better Drake when Wayne is here, but I don't need Wayne to be Drake. Nicki doesn't need Wayne to be Nicki. She created Nicki [Minaj]. We're all a better team when he's here, but it's not a necessity. For us, it's a great thing so we can still carry this movement." (All Hip Hop)

According to Wayne's co-manager and Young Money CEO Cortez Bryant, a new EP called I'm Not A Human Being will hit stores in late September.

"I'm putting out a [Wayne] album called I'm Not A Human Being and I'll probably drop it on his birthday, September 27...We not about to roll out no three month set up. I'm not even putting it out in stores. We just gonna put it out virally and maybe package it up for Christmas. Give 'em a hard copy later for fan appreciation." (VIBE)

Lil Wayne was sentenced to a one-year bid behind bars last March on a 2007 gun possession conviction.

The album will be an EP of entirely new Wayne material, serving as a prelude to Tha Carter IV - but it won't be getting the full-blown promotional treatment.

“We not about to roll out no three month set up,” said Bryant. “I’m not even putting it out in stores. We just gonna put it out virally and maybe package it up for Christmas. Give 'em a hard copy later for fan appreciation.”

Mystikal Enlists Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes For New Album

July 08, 2010 10:50:00 AM CDT

by Danielle Harling

Following his release from prison Louisiana rapper Mystikal was more than eager to get back into the studio for his next project.

"Everything is lined up for me, it's amazing,” Mystikal explained to MTV News. “I didn't throw pity parties for myself [while in prison]. I knew I was too blessed to be stressed and I knew I was gonna get through it. I'm still on Jive. I still have an obligation to fulfill with them guys. We gonna do it in a major way."

The rapper has already secured a number of noteworthy appearances for his upcoming album. Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes will both be featured on the album and producer’s Pharrell Williams and Mannie Fresh are both lending their talents for the project.

"I just talked to him the other day," said Mystikal, speaking on Pharrell. "He says he got an armored-tank beat for me. I can't wait to hear what that sounds like."

Aside from working on his upcoming album Mystikal has performed at a number of events including VH1’s Hip Hop Honors, the Zulu Ball, and most recently the Essence Music Festival.

Mystikal was released from prison earlier this year after serving six years for a sexual battery and extortion charge. He has yet to speak on a release date or a name for his upcoming album.

Plea Agreement Reached In Lil Wayne's Arizona Case

Plea Agreement Reached In Lil Wayne's Arizona Case

June 21, 2010 11:45:00 AM CDT | by Danielle Harling

A plea hearing held last week has proved to be a success for rapper Lil Wayne. The YumaSun.com reports that the incarcerated rapper will likely not receive jail time for drug and weapons charges he received two years ago in Arizona.

The plea hearing took place via video feed with Lil Wayne broadcasted from his jail cell.

The rapper pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a dangerous drug and will likely be given several years probation instead of added jail time.

Because of Lil Wayne’s guilty plea the other, more serious charges including possession of a narcotic drug for sale, misconduct involving weapons, and possession of drug paraphernalia were all dropped.

Lil Wayne received the drug and weapons charges back in 2008 when his tour bus was searched by agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration. A .40-caliber pistol, almost four ounces of marijuana, an ounce of cocaine, 41 grams of Ecstasy, and other drug paraphernalia were found on the bus.

Lil Wayne is currently serving time at New York’s Riker’s Island.

By Mike Winslow

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs hit Rikers Island earlier in the week to visit jailed rapper Lil Wayne.

According to the New York Daily News, Combs hopped the bus to Rikers to visit Lil Wayne on Wednesday (April 28th) at the Eric M. Taylor correctional facility.

Diddy, who was on a pre-approved list, met with Lil Wayne for about an hour at the prison.

Despite being incarcerated for the next eight months for gun possession, Lil Wayne continues to make headlines in the media.

Last week, Amelia Negron, a prison guard at Rikers Island, announced that she was filing a federal lawsuit against the Department of Corrections, after she was allegedly fired for spying on the rapper, while he was visiting a guest.

Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 4/11/2010

Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 4/11/2010
April 14, 2010 10:04:00 AM CDT | by Allen Jacobs

After the first week of April shaking up the charts, last week was more about releases settling into place. Usher gave up his #1 to Justin Bieber, as divorce ode Raymond v. Raymond adjusted comfortably at #2, losing by a margin of 10,000. The LaFace Records project could likely touch gold next Wednesday, with a strong third week outing.

Monica held #6 for a third straight week with her Still Standing. The J Records artist crossed the 250,000 mark, with an album that features production from Missy Elliott and Jim Jonsin. Monica's Atlanta neighbor Ludacris, who appears on Still Standing, also crossed the 250,000 mark Battle of the Sexes. The DTP/Def Jam release also held his #11 spot from the week before.

Erykah Badu slid five spots to #9 with her acclaimed "part two" release in her New Amerykah series. The championed follow-up maintains her production roster Hip Hop-based luminaries such as 9th Wonder, Madlib, Sa-Ra Creative Partners, Georgia Anne Muldrow and the late J. Dilla.

The Black Eyed Peas budged to the #13 spot with The E.N.D. The release is soon to turn a year old, having already found double-platinum domestic status for the veteran Interscope Records group.

Lil Wayne took his Rebirth to gold this past week. The experimental Auto-Tune-heavy release crossed the 500,000 unit mark domestically, making it a rapper's first 2010 release to do so. Currently serving on Rikers Island in New York, Wayne has yet to release a statement on the benchmark.

Wu-Tang Clan member trio Ghostface Killah, Method Man & Raekwon's Wu-Massacre fell 25 places to #37. Crossing the 50,000 unit mark next week, the warmly-received project features special packaging and production from RZA and Mathematics.

E-40 had three chart entries last week. The double-packaging of Revenue Retrievin' left the Top 200 this week, and Revenue Retrievin' Night Shift pulled in front of Revenue Retrievin' Day Shift , the inverse of last week's results. Between both releases (at #100 and #108 respectively), the Vallejo veteran sold nearly 10,000 units last week.

On their descent from the charts, two former adversaries almost shared chart real estate last week. In his Interscope departure, 50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct is stretching to reach gold. The G-Unit release came in at #188, while Terror Squad deejay, Khaled carried his E1 release Victory past the 50,000 mark. The release has cracked radio with the Snoop Dogg-assisted southern anthem "All I Do Is Win."

Lil Wayne Reports To Riker's Island For Sentence

Lil Wayne Reports To Riker's Island For Sentence
March 08, 2010 03:03:00 PM CST | by Allen Jacobs

Lil Wayne was sentenced today (March 8th) after two delayed events. The Cash Money/Young Money platinum super-star had avoided sentencing last month for a dental emergency, followed by a Manhattan courthouse fire last week. AllHipHop.com has reported that Wayne is arriving at New York's Riker's Island this afternoon.

Wayne is expected to serve eight months from a .40 caliber gun and marijuana possession conviction stemming from a tour base search in 2007 while the rapper was on tour in Manhattan. The rapper was taken in handcuffs from court room to the prison where Styles P, Foxy Brown and Shyne have all served time

Many speculate that Wayne will remain in protective custody while in the prison, though officials have yet to confirm. While he is incarcerated, Mack Maine is expected to have a controlling hand at Young Money Records. The label will release Drake's Thank Me Later during that period.

This past weekend, a video to Wayne's Eminem-assisted Rebirth track "Drop The World" released.

Lil Wayne Gets New Sentencing Date; Hits Stage With Jay-Z

Lil Wayne Gets New Sentencing Date; Hits Stage With Jay-Z
Wednesday, March 03, 2010 11:51 AM
By Mike Winslow

(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne has been given a third sentencing date for a 2007 gun charge, after a fire in a New York courthouse postponed the sentencing yesterday (March 2).

The rapper was scheduled to be sentenced to a one-year prison term for attempted possession of a weapon, after he pleaded guilty to the gun charge in October.

Judge Charles H. Solomon was supposed to sentence the rapper to prison on February 9th, but he postponed the sentencing so Lil Wayne could have dental work done.

Judge Solomon rescheduled the date for March 2, but a fire broke out in the basement of the courthouse yesterday.

Over 1,000 people were forced to evacuate the building, which was shut down for the day after eight people, including five firefighters were treated for injuries.

According to TMZ.com, Lil Wayne will be sentenced to prison on Monday (March 8).

Last night, Lil Wayne hit the stage with Jay-Z at Madison Square Garden last night as part of the Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 tour.

Sade battled off Lady Antebellum for another week to maintain her #1 spot for a third week with Soldier Of Love. With more television appearances coming, the veteran Jazz/Soul vocalists is enjoying a comeback after nearly a decade hiatus. Her Epic Records project is also a celebrated success to the label who's biggest enjoyment last year was a posthumous Michael Jackson compilation. The 51 year-old singer is likely to reach platinum by month's end.

The Black Eyed Peas enjoyed their 38th week on the charts. The group fell one spot of their Interscope Records release The E.N.D. Already at double platinum, a new video "Imma Be Rocking That Body," has will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo and Apl.De.Ap staying as close to the top of the charts as they've been in months. will.i.am will soon be working on Usher's Raymond v. Raymond.

Lil Wayne's Rebirth slipped one spot too, as Wayne suggests that a video will surface within a month of his collaboration with Eminem for "Drop The World" . With radio support and Wayne remaining free indefinitely, Rebirth could have platinum potential. Alicia Keys' Element Of Freedom fell out of the Top 10 last week. The platinum release was rivaled in week sales by Rihanna's dark outcry, Rated R.

Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 and Eminem's Relapse remain cemented on the Top 200, with 25 and 41 weeks on the chart respectively. Jay-Z already began speaking about his next album, reportedly his first with Sony Records, two weeks ago.

50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct has crossed the 400,000 mark and heads towards platinum in what appears to be his final Interscope album after a tremendous eight year run. Close behind, Drake hopes to take his debut EP, So Far Gone to 400,000 next week, which remains groundbreaking for an album that few people are recognizing as "official," based on its free download beginnings.

Freeway & Jake One's The Stimulus Package fell nearly 100 places between its debut and sophomore week. Free's first "official" independent album, this on the Minneapolis-based Rhymesayers label was supported with a whole album's worth of production from Seattle's most prolific producer, Jake One. The album features guest appearances from Beanie Sigel, Young Chris, Raekwon and Freeway's latest label employer, Birdman. More videos from the project are expected soon, though radio has not embraced the independent project.

Lil Wayne Prison Sentencing Postponed Again

Lil Wayne Prison Sentencing Postponed Again
March 02, 2010 02:03:00 PM CST | by Rashad Phillips

A basement fire at the Lower Manhattan courthouse where Lil Wayne's sentencing was scheduled to take place today has postponed the Grammy Award winning emcee's expected prison bid for a second time. Lil Wayne was scheduled to be sentenced to a one-year prison term today after he pleaded guilty to charges of criminal possession of a weapon in October of 2009. According to courts spokesman David Bookstaver, the sentencing was among proceedings canceled due a basement fire at a Lower Manhattan courthouse.

Wayne was originally scheduled to be sentenced on February 9, but he was granted a postponement in order to have oral surgery. During the three week postponement, the rapper underwent the eight-hour dental procedure and also filmed upwards of eight music videos, as well as another documentary with DJ Scoob Doo.

At press time, no date has been set to reschedule the sentencing. HipHopDX will provide more updates as they become available.

Sean Garrett Talks Of Inking Deal With Young Money, Speaks On Nicki Minaj

Sean Garrett Talks Of Inking Deal With Young Money, Speaks On Nicki Minaj
February 27, 2010 12:02:00 PM CST | by Krysten Hughes

Singer slash songwriter Sean Garrett may become the next addition to Lil Wayne's Young Money Millionaire's crew. In an interview with Rap-Up.com, he said “I’m really, really happy about what’s going on with me right now and I’m happy about my team. I’m definitely happy about my new venture.”

One aspect of Garretts's new venture includes teaming up with Lil Wayne's protégé, Nicki Minaj, for his latest single "Get It All" [listen], which was featured on his mixtape, The Pen: Vol 1, and will also appear on his forthcoming untitled LP, which is slated to drop this summer. Lil Wayne also has a spot on the new album, appearing on the second single.

When asked whether or not he will be inking a deal with Wayne's label, he replied “It’s in the sky. You just look up and watch the stars line up," he added, “We’re in negotiations right now. It’s almost done.”

This is not the first time the Atlanta resident alluded to inking a new deal since leaving Interscope Records. Last week in an interview with MTV, he said "You know I had to go through a few political situations to get my album where I wanted it to be, and to get the situation where I wanted it to be," he added, "Finally it's coming together in the right way. I got a lot of my friends that's endorsing me: Lil Wayne, my man Drake, [Nicki] Minaj.”

He also spoke to MTV about working with Young Money's first lady. "I'm really, really excited about Nicki because I think that what Nicki has understood is that she can do whatever she wants to do. She's a dreamer just like myself," he added, "She's taken her image to a whole other level with the whole Barbie thing. And I think she's very imaginative and her music's great and she's not scared of nothing. She's fearless. As long as you're fearless in life you can do anything."

Sean Garrett, who was dubbed "The Pen" by Jay-Z, penned hit singles for artists like Usher, Chris Brown, Beyonce, and Ciara. He has also been featured on singles with Ludacris, Keri Hilson, and Gucci Mane, showing off his vocals. His 2008 debut album, Turbo 919, was only released in Japan, making his latest LP a U.S. debut.

An official announcement is expected to be made within coming weeks on his website iamthepen.com about his new deal.

Sade defended her #1 turf for a second straight week with Soldier Of Love. With more television appearances coming, the veteran Jazz/Soul vocalists is enjoying a comeback after nearly a decade hiatus. Her Epic Records project is also a celebrated success to the label who's biggest enjoyment last year was a posthumous Michael Jackson compilation. The 51 year-old Nigerian-born singer also owned her spot by a margin of nearly 50,000 units.

The Black Eyed Peas have impressed the charts for close to nine months. Still, the group's return to #3 suggests that their June of 2009 Interscope Records release The E.N.D. isn't anywhere close to losing momentum. Already at double platinum, a new video "Imma Be Rocking That Body," has will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo and Apl.De.Ap staying as close to the top of the charts as they've been in months. Later this year, will.i.am and his label are going to be releasing Kelis' first album since her highly-publicized split with Nas.

Lil Wayne's Rebirth may reach gold before the New Orleans-born super-star sees jail-time. The Cash Money/Universal Motown release remains in the Top 5, as Wayne suggests that a video will surface within a month of his collaboration with Eminem for "Drop The World" . With radio support for that as a single, Rebirth could have platinum potential.

Two R&B acts closed out the Top 10 last week. Alicia Keys' Element Of Freedom readies for a new single and perhaps more traction while Jaheim's Another Round heads towards 200,000 units. The 31 year-old New Jersey native's album features Jadakiss on the "Ain't Leavin' Without You (Remix)" from his fifth album.

Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 and Eminem's Relapse both remained in the Top 50 for another week. Jay-Z already began speaking about his next album, reportedly his first with Sony Records, last week.

Freeway & Jake One's The Stimulus Package entered the charts at #61.

Gold Dust/K7 Records released a compilation of largely recycled and alternate tracks from various Wu-Tang Clan members. All produced by longtime Method Man deejay and "Mighty Healthy" producer Mathematics, Return of the Wu & Friends was a notable appearance from the label home to Zion I, Soul Asssasins and Crown City Rockers. The compilation, which includes rare work from Ol' Dirty Bastard, scanned nearly 3,500 first week units on the indie.

New Orleans Funk/Jazz outfit Galactic's eighth album Ya Ka May fell 48 spots to close out the Top 200. The Anti Records group told DX that they are soon to be at work on a full length album with former Jurassic 5 emcee Chali 2na.
